Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the complete HMC/VMC machine shop operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day production.
- Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Monitor machine utilization, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), productivity, and cycle time improvements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, tools, fixtures, and consumables.
- Supervise Setters, Programmers, Operators, Supervisors, and Engineers to achieve production targets.
- Review and optimize CNC programs, machining processes, tooling, and cutting parameters to improve productivity.
- Ensure first-piece approval and adherence to quality standards throughout production.
- Coordinate with the Quality department to resolve machining-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with the Maintenance team to minimize machine downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Monitor preventive maintenance schedules and ensure machine health.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, SMED, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze production losses, rejection, rework, downtime, and implement improvement plans.
- Ensure proper planning and availability of cutting tools, fixtures, gauges,



and spare parts.
- Coordinate with PPC, Stores, Tool Room, Maintenance, NPD, and Quality departments for smooth production flow.
- Monitor production reports, machine efficiency, rejection rates, and daily MIS.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF quality systems, SOPs, work instructions, and customer requirements.
- Maintain safe working practices and ensure compliance with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards.
- Train and develop operators, setters, and supervisors to improve technical competency and productivity.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide guidance to team members.
- Support current product development (NPD), process validation, PPAP, and new machine installations.
- Control manufacturing costs by reducing cycle time, tool consumption, scrap, and idle time.
- Drive automation and digital manufacturing initiatives wherever feasible.
- Ensure proper documentation of production records, process parameters, machine logs, and audit requirements.
- Handle customer audits and internal audits related to machine shop operations.
- Ensure discipline, attendance, and effective manpower management within the department.
