Role & responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and maintain welding procedures in accordance with ISO, AWS, ASME, EN, and ISO 3834 requirements.
- Prepare, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR).
- Qualify welders and welding operators in accordance with applicable international standards.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 3834, and customer-specific welding requirements.
- Review engineering drawings and recommend suitable welding processes and consumables.
- Optimize welding parameters to improve productivity, reduce defects, and enhance weld quality.
- Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities including VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT as required.
- Support new product development by defining welding methods and manufacturing feasibility.
- Monitor welding quality KPIs, rejection rates, repair rates, and process capability.
- Lead welding audits conducted by customers, certification bodies, and third-party agencies.
- Conduct welding training programs and competency development for welders and supervisors.
- Evaluate and approve welding consumables, equipment, and fixtures.
- Work closely with Design, Production, Quality, SCM, and Customer Support teams to achieve quality and delivery objectives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements related to welding operations.

Preferred candidate profile

Education

- BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering,



or equivalent.
- International Welding Engineer (IWE) Certification from an IIW-authorized training body is mandatory.
- Additional certifications in Welding Inspection (CSWIP, AWS CWI, ASNT Level II, etc.) will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 615 years of experience in welding engineering within manufacturing industries.
- Hands-on experience in fabrication and welding of hydraulic cylinders, pressure vessels, heavy engineering equipment, or structural components.
- Experience with robotic welding, MIG/MAG, TIG, SAW, and FCAW processes is preferred.
- Exposure to OEM customer requirements and international quality standards.
