Job Description:

The Associate Professor, Forensic Medicine is responsible for providing specialized clinical care, academic teaching, research support, and administrative assistance within the Department of, Forensic Medicine. The role supports the Professor, Head of Unit, and Head of Department in ensuring high standards of patient care, medical education, research activities, and quality compliance, in accordance with NMC regulations, patient care standards, and institutional policies of the Medical College and the affiliated Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital under a Deemed-to-be University.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. Clinical Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive and evidence-based patient care in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and ICU settings as assigned.
- Supervise and guide residents and interns in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients.
- Ensure adherence to approved clinical protocols, SOPs, and hospital policies.
- Participate in ward rounds, specialty clinics, emergency duties, and on-call services as per departmental roster.




- Monitor patient safety practices and report adverse events in accordance with institutional policies.

B. Academic and Teaching Responsibilities

- Conduct undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as per university curriculum and NMC norms.
- Participate actively in bedside teaching, lectures, seminars, journal clubs, and case discussions.
- Assist in internal assessments, examinations, and academic evaluations.
- Mentor postgraduate students in clinical learning and dissertation-related activities.

C. Administrative Responsibilities

- Assist the Professor & Head of Unit / Head of Department in departmental administrative functions.
- Support preparation and implementation of duty rosters, academic schedules, and service plans.
- Ensure proper maintenance of medical records and departmental documentation.
- Participate in institutional committees and departmental meetings as nominated.

D. Research and Academic Development

- Participate in departmental and institutional research activities.
- Guide postgraduate students in research methodology and dissertation work under supervision.
- Ensure compliance with Institutional Ethics Committee requirements for research activities.
- Encourage and contribute to publications, CMEs, workshops, and conferences.

E. Quality Management Responsibilities:

- Support implementation of NABH patient care and quality standards at unit and departmental levels.
- Ensure compliance related to:
- Patient rights and patient education
- Documentation and medical records management
- Infection prevention and control practices
- Clinical audits, indicators, and quality improvement initiatives

- Participate in internal audits, quality improvement activities, and corrective and preventive action processes.

F. Governance and Professional Conduct

- Maintain skilled discipline, ethical conduct, and adherence to institutional policies.
- Assist in addressing patient complaints and grievances as per hospital grievance redressal mechanism.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information and compliance with patient safety and risk management practices.
