AGM - Fuel Procurement

Purpose of the job:

The role is responsible for strategic sourcing, procurement, planning, and optimization of Petcoke and Imported Coal to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability for cement plants at optimal cost, quality, and compliance. The role plays a critical part in fuel cost optimization, supplier management, import operations, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives, aligned with operational excellence and ESG objectives.

Job Description:

1. Endtoend responsibility for strategic sourcing and procurement of Petcoke and Imported Coal through longterm contracts, spot purchases, and trader arrangements.

2. Procurement of Petcoke and Imported Coal from international suppliers, traders, miners, and domestic sources as per plant requirements.

3. Planning and execution of fuel sourcing for Kiln, CPP, and other thermal applications to ensure uninterrupted operations.

4. Finalization and management of longterm contracts, spot contracts, and supply agreements including pricing, quality, delivery terms, and payment conditions.

5. Addressing and resolving commercial, operational, and qualityrelated issues such as quality deviations, short supply, demurrage, claims, refunds, and contractual disputes.

6. Continuous tracking of international Petcoke and coal market trends, indices, freight movements, and supplydemand dynamics for chance buying.

7. Issuance and management of contracts for shipping lines, CHAs, port handling agents, storage, and inland transportation related to imported fuels.

8. Planning and monitoring shipment schedules, port operations, customs clearance, and inland logistics to ensure timely fuel availability at plants.

Ensure achievement of targeted fuel availability, landed cost, and quality parameters (GCV, Ash, VM, Sulphur) in coordination with plants.

10. Coordination with operations and process teams to achieve optimum fuel mix and heat cost optimization.

11. Identification and development of potential suppliers, traders, and logistics partners to improve competitiveness and cost effectiveness.

12. Evaluation of supplier and service provider performance based on commercial competitiveness, reliability, financial strength, and service quality.

13. Preparation of annual fuel budget, cost estimation, and providing inputs for MBR, SR, and management reviews.

14. Monitoring monthly fuel performance against budget and fuel mix targets, highlighting deviations and corrective actions.

15. Regular monitoring of fuel quality through sampling and testing and initiating corrective actions for quality improvement.

16. Establishing structured MIS, dashboards, SOPs, and functional reviews for fuel procurement and logistics on a monthly basis.

17. Regular interaction with internal stakeholders such as Plant Operations, Manufacturing, Process, QC, Finance, Sustainability, and SSC for issue resolution and performance delivery.

18. Interaction with international suppliers, traders, shipping companies, ports, and logistics partners for operational coordination and market intelligence.

19. Supporting company initiatives on sustainability, alternative fuels, and reduction of carbon footprint by optimizing use of Petcoke and Coal.

20. Any other activities related to procurement, logistics, planning, and management of imported fuels as may be assigned by management.
