Medical Data Annotation Specialist (Healthcare AI & Strategic Operations)
Job Summary
We are seeking a high-performing Medical Data Annotation Specialist for a full-time, one-year contract to support healthcare AI initiatives. In addition to delivering accurate medical annotations, this role requires the ability to adapt to evolving project needs, contribute process-level insights, and gradually take on strategic responsibilities such as quality improvement, workflow optimization, and subject-matter support. The role directly supports operational efficiency, scalability, and revenue growth.
Mode of Work: Full-time | 1-year contract
Shift: Night shift (8:00 PM 4:00 AM)
Location: Office-based (Kolkata)
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, or Social Work.
- Preferred 1 year of clinical experience.
- Strong ability to understand patient medical histories and clinical narratives.
- Excellent English reading comprehension and written communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy and comfort with annotation tools.
- Willingness to work night shifts (7:00 PM 3:00 AM).
- Comfortable working from the office in Night shift
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical billing, coding, or clinical documentation.
- Background in medical transcription.
- Exposure to clinical NLP, medical annotation, or AI-driven healthcare projects.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and structured clinical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Core Annotation Responsibilities
- Annotate and label medical terms and clinical concepts from clinical notes, encounter summaries, and other healthcare documents.
- Extract and structure key patient information including diagnoses, medications, procedures, lab results, and medical history.
- Map medical concepts to standardized ontologies such as ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm.
- Maintain high accuracy, consistency,
and productivity while meeting defined SLAs.
Strategic & Adaptive Responsibilities
- Identify recurring annotation challenges, ambiguities, or inefficiencies and proactively suggest improvements.
- Support quality audits, peer reviews, or pilot tasks when required.
- Adapt quickly to new annotation frameworks, tools, and client-specific requirements.
- Contribute to process documentation, guideline clarifications, and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with QA, team leads, and project managers to support scaling and delivery excellence.
- Demonstrate readiness to take on SME, quality, or workflow-support roles based on performance.
