Role Summary
As a Junior Cloud Operations Engineer, you will support day-to-day managed operations for cloud infrastructure and container platforms. You will work within defined operational processes to execute routine tasks, triage and resolve standard incidents, implement approved changes (MAC), and maintain documentation. You will collaborate closely with the customers internal teams who retain responsibility for architecture, design, strategic development, and complex third-level support.
Key Responsibilities
A) Managed Operations (L1/L2 – operational level)
Monitor alerts and dashboards; perform initial triage and validation.
Handle standard incident, problem, and change activities using runbooks:
Collect evidence (logs/metrics/events), identify common patterns, apply known fixes.
Escalate clearly when the issue is ambiguous or high risk.
Provide operational data and support recurring reporting (weekly/monthly).
Integrate and onboard services into existing monitoring, logging, and ticketing systems using documented procedures.
B) Routine Execution & Runbook-Based Tasks
Execute recurring activities in line with operating processes (e.g., start/stop schedules, lock management, housekeeping tasks).
Perform patch execution tasks based on approved procedures and maintenance windows.
Maintain hygiene in ServiceNow: accurate categorization, timestamps, work notes, closure notes.
C) Provisioning Support
Create/adjust standard cloud resources following templates (e.g., subscriptions, resource groups, services) as required.

Implement minor updates to:
Terraform modules
Ansible playbooks
DevOps pipelines
Support provisioning of API endpoints based on provided specifications and test connectivity.
D) Move-Add-Change (MAC)
Execute low/medium risk changes:
Scaling, tagging, minor configuration changes, standard region adjustments when pre-approved
Simple CI/CD variable and pipeline schedule changes
Update operating manual and ServiceNow records for every change.
Support weekly policy checks:
Identify non-compliant resources and fix straightforward violations; escalate complex cases.
E) Troubleshooting & Vendor Coordination
Diagnose standard platform issues (compute, storage, network, containers, pipelines) using known queries and dashboards.
Support manufacturer/vendor tickets (e.g., Microsoft/Oracle) by providing logs, repro steps, and diagnostics.
F) Documentation (Mandatory)
Independently document tasks and updates in:
DevOps stories (work items)
Wiki/runbooks/operating manual
Keep knowledge articles up to date after repeated tickets or changes.
Required Technical Skills
Cloud fundamentals (Azure preferred): resource organization, RBAC basics,

policies, monitoring.
Infrastructure as Code basics: Terraform (variables, modules usage, plan/apply hygiene).
Configuration management basics: Ansible (playbook execution, inventories, roles familiarity).
CI/CD: Azure DevOps/GitHub pipelines basics; YAML understanding.
Observability: monitoring/logging basics (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics concepts).
ITSM: ServiceNow ticket lifecycle and change records.
Azure certifications (AZ-900, AZ-104), ITIL Foundation.
Exposure to container operations (AKS/Kubernetes basics), Helm basics.
Experience handling Renovate PRs and dependency updates with CI checks.
Basic networking and security awareness: DNS, certificates concepts, least privilege mindset.
Soft Skills
Process discipline: follows runbooks, change controls, and documentation standards.
Transparent written communication: high-quality ticket updates and concise handover notes.
Ownership mindset: drives tasks to completion; escalates early with evidence.
Attention to detail: avoids operational mistakes; validates post-change health checks.
Collaboration: works effectively with customer teams and peers; receptive to feedback.
Learning agility: improves technical depth through RCA learnings and post-incident actions.
