Purpose of the Role: Medical Director is accountable for ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence, quality of care, patient safety, and professional practice. As the custodian of Mpower's clinical philosophy and standards, the Medical Director establishes evidence-based clinical frameworks, drives governance and quality assurance, and ensures the delivery of ethical, person-centred, and outcome-focused care.

The Medical Director leads the development, supervision, and continuous capability enhancement of psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, and multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of clinical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

Qualification: MBBS /MD in Psychiatry from a recognized institution.
Additional certification / working knowledge of physical medicine, or allied therapy standards will be an added advantage.

Experience: Minimum 20 years of clinical experience, including exposure to mental health.
Minimum years of experience in a leadership / administrative position managing multi-disciplinary or multi-unit clinical teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership & Guidance

Provide overall clinical leadership and management for the Mental Health Unit.

Act as the single point of clinical accountability for outcomes, quality, and integration.

Allocate clinical resources, staff time, and capacity across the two units in line with service demand and organizational priorities.

Provide ongoing clinical supervision and expert consultation for complex mental health cases.

Act as the final point of reference for professional judgment and complex case management.

Clinical Governance

Serve as the clinical custodian for Mpower's brand ensuring integrity, safety, and professional rigor in all therapeutic interventions.
Set the clinical philosophy, frameworks, and care standards for mental health services.

Ensure adherence to established clinical methodologies, ethical standards, and applicable regulatory/accreditation requirements.

Chair periodic Clinical Reviews to assess therapeutic effectiveness, high-risk case management, and client outcomes.

Integrated Care & Unit Coordination

Ensure consistent quality and safety standards are applied uniformly.





Hiring & Performance Management

Support and supervise in hiring and evaluating new psychologists, counsellors.

Lead the functional assessment and selection process for new hires.

Oversee performance evaluations for all mental health professionals.

For Centers / Foundations / Helpline conduct performance

appraisals with input from the Operations team.

For Projects & Initiatives provide functional capability inputs to the respective line managers.

Capability Development

Drive the career development of all counsellors, psychologists, and therapists.

Partner with the training team to identify capability gaps and curate fit-for-purpose development programs.

Ensure continuous training and upskilling through structured mentorship, case discussions, and best-practice sharing.

Create career development opportunities for mental health professionals.

Career Mobility & Resource Optimization

Identify and facilitate cross-deployment of clinical staff across Centers, Foundations, Helpline, and Projects & Initiatives.

Ensure optimal utilization of clinical talent in collaboration with the Operations team.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Partner with other leadership teams to ensure operational readiness, SOP alignment, and seamless program delivery.

Collaborate with external advisors, academic institutions, and regulatory bodies to adopt global best practices in mental health.

Advisory & Thought Leadership

Serve as a subject matter expert in program design, ensuring clinical relevance in mental health initiatives.

Provide insights into new programs and interventions.

Contribute to knowledge creation through whitepapers, position statements, and pilot programs in emerging areas.

Represent Mpower at mental health forums, clinical symposia, and partner institutions as a thought leader.
