Position Overview
- The Assistant Manager - Design & Development will be responsible for overseeing the new product design lifecycle, managing the team of design engineers, reviewing design and related documents to ensure safety and innovation in recent product development projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the team of engineers responsible for new product development.
- Prepare and monitor project plans for new product development.
- Review designs at multiple stages to ensure correctness, manufacturing feasibility, cost effectiveness, innovation, safety, adherence to design standards and user friendliness of the design.
- Review engineering drawings, engineering calculations,
FEA analysis and other technical documentation related to the design.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of manufacturing processes, outsourced items and services data base within the organization.
- Coordinate prototype manufacturing in collaboration with other Production Engineers.
- Coordinate design activities in cross function teams related to Kaizen, CAPA, etc.
- Manage manpower within the team including hiring decisions, skill development, skill monitoring, timely reviews and counseling where required.
Required Knowledge & Abilities
- 3D - modeling (including sheet metal module) and detailing knowledge using Solidworks software.
- FEA analysis knowledge (using ANSYS or similar software).
- Pressure Vessel Design knowledge including ASME Section VIII Div 1 and Div 2.
- Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communications skills: interpersonal, listening, oral, and written.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, efficiently schedule and manage time.
Experience
- 5 - 8 Yrs experience in the design department in manufacturing industry.
Educational Background
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher with a good academic record.
- No backlogs or gaps in education
