Trade Finance Executive

Job Purpose

To manage the organization's trade finance instruments Bank Guarantees (BG) and Letters of Credit (LC) end to end, including interpretation of banking sanction letters, negotiation with UAE banks on facility terms, and ensuring related documentation and payments are processed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

1. Study and interpret trade finance terms, banking sanction letters, and credit facility agreements to ensure the organization's compliance with agreed terms.
2. Liaise and negotiate with UAE banks on sanction letter terms pricing, margin, tenure, collateral, and other facility conditions.
3. Prepare, review, and process Bank Guarantee (BG) documentation: issuance, amendment, extension, claims, and closure.
4. Prepare, review, and process Letter of Credit (LC) documentation: opening, amendment, discrepancy handling, and closure.
5. Coordinate with internal stakeholders (procurement, projects, sales, accounts) to gather BG/LC requirements and ensure timely submission to banks.
6. Track BG/LC validity, expiry, and renewal dates to avoid lapses or avoidable charges.
7. Process and follow up on payments linked to trade finance instruments (margin money, bank charges, LC retirements, etc.).
8. Maintain an updated tracker/MIS of all trade finance transactions, facility utilization, and outstanding exposure by bank.
9.



Support annual facility renewals — preparing financials, KYC, and other documents required by banks.
10. Coordinate with legal/compliance teams on guarantee wording, indemnity clauses, and risk terms before execution.
11. Build and maintain solid working relationships with relationship managers and trade finance desks at UAE banks.
12. Provide periodic reports to management on facility utilization, upcoming renewals, and any bank-related escalations.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- MBA (Finance) / CA-Inter / CMA-Inter an added advantage

Experience

- 4–5 years of relevant experience in trade finance, corporate banking, or treasury operations
- Prior exposure to UAE/GCC banking practices strongly preferred

Key Skills & Competencies

- Sound understanding of trade finance instruments (BG, LC, sanction letters, facility documentation)
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly when dealing with banks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail with strong follow-up and coordination ability
- Proficient in MS Excel and ERP/banking portals
- Able to manage multiple banks, stakeholders, and deadlines simultaneously
- Understanding of UAE banking regulations and documentation norms is a plus
