PURPOSE OF JOB

The Test Engineer will be responsible for managing the end-to-end testing process, including test planning, task assignment, and defect tracking. They will analyze project requirements, develop test plans, and ensure the documentation and execution of testing processes follow industry standards. The role involves performing functional, database, web, mobile app, and API testing, as well as automating tasks using tools like Selenium and Appium. The engineer will also provide root cause analysis, track testing progress, and collaborate with both internal teams and clients. A key aspect of the role is ensuring quality through regular status reporting, timely milestone delivery, and effective communication across stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Analyze project requirements to understand the testing effort and scope.
- Estimate and secure management support for the time, resources, and budget required for testing.
- Organize and lead the testing kick-off meeting to align stakeholders.
- Define the Test Cycle Strategy, ensuring a transparent approach for testing.
- Identify training needs (technical and soft skills) and communicate them to the Project Manager.
- Develop a comprehensive test plan, outlining tasks, dependencies, and risks to ensure system quality
- Arrange the necessary hardware and software requirements for the test setup.
- Assign tasks to Testing Team members, ensuring adequate work allocation throughout the project.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of all testing documents/artifacts.
- Document, implement, monitor, and enforce testing processes according to organizational standards.
- Review and validate Test Case documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Track changes and updates to project requirements, ensuring testing is aligned with new needs.
- Escalate any project-related issues (software, hardware, or resources) to the Project Manager or Sr. Test Manager.
- Organize regular status meetings and share progress updates with clients (daily, weekly, etc.).
- Participate in client calls, providing status reports and addressing client queries.
- Serve as the single point of contact between Development and Testing teams.




- Track and prepare detailed testing activity reports, including test results, test case coverage, defects, and performance metrics.
- Review and provide feedback on various reports generated by Test Engineers.
- Ensure timely delivery of key testing milestones, aligning with project timelines.
- Update and prepare metrics dashboards at the end of each project phase or upon completion.

QUALIFICATION / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, Certified Agile Tester) are a plus.
- Domain Experience: Experience in Payment Gateway, E-Commerce, or the product domain is preferred.
- SDLC and STLC Expertise: Extensive experience in SDLC, STLC, Analysis, and Design, with exposure to the full software testing lifecycle (V-model) and defect cycle.
- Functional and Database Testing: Strong experience in Functional Testing and Database Testing for web-based applications.
- Web Automation: Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver for web automation.
- Mobile Automation: Proficiency in Appium for mobile app automation on Android and iOS platforms.
- API/Services Automation: Experience in API/Services automation using Java or Python.
- Programming and Scripting: Proficient in at least one programming or scripting language such as .NET, Java, Shell, Perl, Python, or Ruby.
- UNIX/Linux Experience: Strong experience working with UNIX/Linux environments.
- SQL Expertise: Experience with SQL queries for database validation and troubleshooting.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with tools like Eclipse, JUnit, Maven, TestNG, POI, and other relevant open-source testing tools.
- Mobile App Testing: Experience in testing mobile applications on Android, iOS, and Windows platforms.
- Feasibility and Compatibility Testing: Experience performing feasibility, compatibility testing, and prototyping for various features.
- Individual Contributor: Ability to work independently, driving better software testing practices and automation of routine tasks.
- Defect Tracking Tools: Experience with JIRA or similar defect tracking tools, managing the entire bug lifecycle.
- Jenkins Exposure: Should have hands-on experience with Jenkins for continuous integration and automation.
- Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team player .
- Experience: 6 8 years of relevant experience in software testing, automation, and quality assurance.
