Role & responsibilities

A. GST Compliance & Returns Management
• Own and manage monthly/quarterly/annual GST return filings GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C — across all GSTINs of the Company including project site registrations.
• Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of GSTR-2A/2B with books of accounts; resolve ITC mismatches through vendor engagement and system-driven alerts.
• Manage Input Tax Credit (ITC) optimization across works contracts, sub-contracting structures, and inter-state project transfers; handle ITC reversals under Rules 42 & 43 and Section 17(5) blocked credits.
• Oversee GST compliance on Job Work (Chapter VI), Bill-to-Ship-to transactions, Import of Services / RCM obligations, and SEZ supplies.
• Prepare and file Annual Returns (GSTR-9) and Reconciliation Statements (GSTR-9C) with detailed management of disclosure obligations.
• Manage registration, amendment, and cancellation of GST registrations across multiple states; handle project-specific Site Office registrations.

B. Litigation, Disputes & Controversy Management
• Draft, prepare and file replies to Show Cause Notices (SCNs), demand notices, and summons issued by GST authorities at the department level.
• Represent the Company or brief external Advocates / Senior Counsel before:
Adjudicating Authority (AC / DC / Joint Commissioner level)
First Appellate Authority — Commissioner (Appeals)
GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT)



— including preparation of Paper Books
• Build and maintain litigation register tracking SCN-to-Order pipeline, demand vs. deposit positions, appeal timelines, and stay applications under Section 112(9).
• Analyze and strategize on key GST issues specific to EPC sector: taxability of works contracts (composite vs. mixed supply), concessional rate under Sl. No. 3 of Notification 11/2017-CT(R), and sub-contractor rate parity issues.
• Handle GST Audit (Section 65), Special Audit (Section 66), and Anti-Evasion / DGGI enquiries including statements under Section 70.

C. Departmental & Cross-Functional Coordination
• Liaise with Project Finance, Procurement, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure GST-compliant transaction flows across procurement, billing, and supply chains.
• Train and guide junior tax / accounts staff on GST compliance processes, ITC hygiene, e-Invoicing obligations, and e-Way Bill management.
• Coordinate with Statutory Auditors, Internal Auditors, and Cost Auditors for GST-related notes, disclosures, and contingent liability assessments.
• Monitor GST law amendments, CBIC Circulars, Notifications, and Advance Rulings; circulate impact notes to the Finance and Legal leadership team.
• Handle GST refund claims — inverted duty structure refunds, refunds on export of services, and unutilised ITC refunds; track pending refund amounts and resolve deficiency memos.
