Citrix NetScaler Engineer

A Citrix NetScaler (or Citrix ADC) Engineer manages and secures network traffic for applications. They install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware or virtual appliances to ensure websites and virtual desktops run fast and safe. These engineers handle load balancing and SSL offloading. The role involves administration, troubleshooting, upgrade and optimization of Citrix infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

- Traffic Management: Configure NetScaler for content switching (directing users to different servers based on their specific requests) and Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) to route traffic between different data centers for maximum uptime.
- Monitoring: Monitor performance, capacity and availability of Citrix infrastructure.
- Compliance: Review SSL certificates and cryptographic configurations. Ensure compliance with security standards and organizational policies. Identify and remediate vulnerabilities associated with ADC infrastructure.
- Security & WAF: Implement Web Application Firewall (WAF) policies to block malicious attacks like SQL injections. Manage SSL/TLS certificates and ciphers to keep data secure.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform firmware upgrades, Validate changes by taking pre and post checks, apply security patches, and resolve network outages.



Fix issues relating to access gateways and virtual private networks (VPNs).
- Linux Jump Host & Command-Line Administration: Utilize Linux jump hosts/bastion servers for secure administration of Citrix ADC (NetScaler) environments, manage secure remote connectivity using SSH, SCP, SFTP, and related tools. Support upgrade execution activities through Linux-based operational platforms.

Typical Requirements

- Experience: Usually, 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in networking and Citrix technologies.
- Core Skills: Robust understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, Strong experience with Citrix ADC / NetScaler, Expertise in Citrix ADC firmware upgrades and migrations, Hands-on experience with VPX/MPX/SDX Platforms, SSL/TLS Configuration, Citrix Gateway, Content Switching, Routing and Switching. Experience in high availability (HA) setups is highly desired.
- Preferred Skill: Proficiency with Linux command-line interface (CLI), Experience administering Linux jump hosts/bastion hosts. Experience with Linux operating systems
- Certifications: Certifications like Citrix Certified Associate - Networking (CCA-N), Citrix Certified Professional - Networking (CCP-N), Citrix Certified Associate App Delivery and Security (CCA-ADS) and Citrix Certified Professional – App Delivery and Security (CCP-ADS) are preferred.
