Job Description (JD) Senior Accountant

Position: Senior Accountant
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reporting To: Director

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, taxation, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and supporting the overall financial management of the manufacturing organization. The role ensures accuracy of financial records, compliance with applicable laws, and timely reporting to management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

- Maintain accurate books of accounts and general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Conduct account reconciliations and ledger scrutiny.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare MIS reports and management dashboards.

2. Accounts Payable & Receivable

- Verify vendor invoices and process payments.
- Monitor customer receivables and follow up for collections.
- Reconcile vendor and customer accounts regularly.
- Manage advances, credit notes, and debit notes.

3. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

- Monitor inventory valuation and stock accounting.
- Analyze production costs, material consumption, and variances.
- Maintain BOM (Bill of Materials) costing and product costing records.
- Coordinate with production and stores departments for inventory controls.
- Assist in cost reduction and profitability analysis.

4. Taxation & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with GST regulations and timely filing of returns.
- Prepare TDS calculations and return filings.
- Support income tax assessments and audits.
- Maintain statutory records and compliance documentation.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance

- Review payroll accounting entries.
- Ensure compliance with PF, ESIC, Skilled Tax, and Labour Law requirements.
- Reconcile payroll-related liabilities.

6. Audit & Internal Controls

- Coordinate with internal and statutory auditors.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and SOPs.

7. Banking & Treasury Management

- Manage bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
- Coordinate with banks for fund management and banking transactions.
- Support working capital and treasury activities.

8. Team Management

- Guide and supervise junior accountants.
- Review accounting entries and financial transactions.
- Provide training and support to team members.

Qualification & Experience

Educational Qualification

- B.Com / M.Com /MBA- Finance
- Additional certification in Finance, Taxation, or ERP systems is an advantage.

Experience

- 58 years of experience in Accounts & Finance with SAP B-1 mandatory
- Minimum 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in inventory accounting and cost accounting is mandatory.

Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and Companies Act.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Tally Prime, or ERPNext.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, MIS Reporting).
- Knowledge of financial analysis and budgeting.
