Role & responsibilities:

The role carries full accountability for delivery across six areas. Each pillar is owned end to end,from setting the standard to holding the portfolio to it.

Portfolio and project governance

- Own the master portfolio view across every live project, maintaining a single, current picture of status, risk, schedule, and cash position.
- Run a disciplined governance rhythm of kickoff, weekly review, stage gate, and closeout, with decisions and owners clearly recorded.
- Define and enforce the project management operating system, templates, and stage gates used across the company.
- Maintain accurate project baselines and manage all changes against them.

Planning, scheduling and delivery

- Convert awarded scope into an executable delivery plan: work breakdown, sequencing, resource loading, and a costed schedule.
- Work with project planning to build and maintain integrated schedules in MS Project or Primavera,tracking critical path and float.
- Drive in office execution through project operations and site teams, clearing bottlenecks before they touch the critical path.
- Coordinate design release, material readiness, and manpower so site work is never left waiting on inputs.

Cost, margin and commercial control

- Own delivered project cost against estimate, protecting the margin committed at the bid stage.
- Manage the milestone billing plan: ensure milestones are achieved, certified, and invoiced promptly to keep project cash healthy.
- Control change orders. Capture every scope change, price it, and secure approval before execution, protecting both margin and the client relationship.
- Track project working capital, including advances, retention, and unbilled work, and flag exposure early.

Procurement, vendor and subcontractor management

- Partner with procurement to plan long lead items and align delivery to the site schedule.
- Manage subcontractors and specialist vendors to agreed scope, quality, and service levels, holding them to schedule and standard.




- Review vendor performance and build a rated, reliable panel for repeat delivery.

Client, stakeholder and compliance management

- Serve as the senior delivery point of contact for clients through execution and handover.
- Support institutional and government project requirements where needed, including inspection, documentation, and milestone certification. Tendering, EMD, and bank guarantees sit primarily with sales, and the role understands this context well enough to step in when a project demands it.
- Maintain complete project documentation, quality records, and handover dossiers.
- Ensure site health, safety, and quality standards are upheld across all projects.

Team leadership and capability

- Lead, mentor, and grow the project coordination and site execution team.
- Set clear roles, standards, and accountability across the delivery function.
- Build the templates, training, and knowledge base that make good delivery repeatable.
- Report portfolio health, risk, and forecasts to the Managing Director with clarity and candour.

Preferred candidate profile

Education (mandatory)

- A Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree, both in Project Management (or a closely allied discipline such as Construction or Engineering Project Management), are required. Both qualifications are essential for this role.
- Candidates must have clearly and directly worked in project management delivery, owning projects in the field, rather than in adjacent or purely coordinating roles.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification is preferred.

Experience

- 8 to 12 years of project management experience, including several years running multiple concurrent projects and leading site delivery teams.
- Background in turnkey or EPC delivery of technical infrastructure, such as controlled environment, HVAC, cleanroom, laboratory, or comparable engineered build, is strongly preferred.
- Experience delivering for institutional, research, or government clients is a explicit advantage.

Competencies and attributes

- Deep command of planning, scheduling, and critical path management.
- Strong commercial instinct. Protects margin without harming delivery or client trust.
- Runs many projects at once without losing control of any single one.
- Clear, calm communicator with clients, site teams, and leadership.
- Drawing literate. Comfortable reading civil, mechanical, and services drawings and BOQs.
- A systems builder who brings structure and discipline, not only firefighting.

Tools and systems

- Scheduling: MS Project and Primavera P6.
- Design literacy: AutoCAD drawing reading, covering 2D layouts and services.
- Cost and billing: ERP or project accounting familiarity for tracking cost and milestone billing.
- Reporting: Advanced Excel for cost models, dashboards, and portfolio reporting, with the Microsoft 365suite for documentation and collaboration.
