Qualification - Masters degree in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Forestry, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.

Experience - Minimum 5 years of skilled experience in wildlife conservation, with substantial experience in elephant conservation and/or landscape connectivity conservation. Demonstrated understanding of:

1. Elephant ecology and behaviour
2. Elephant movement and habitat use
3. Elephant corridors and connectivity conservation
4. Human-elephant conflict and coexistence

Role Context - The SFO/OIC will support the Division Head Right of Passage in implementing WTIs national elephant corridor strategy. The role requires overseeing the implementation of corridor conservation initiatives, coordinating WTIs Green Corridor Champion (GCC) network, providing technical oversight for elephant corridor assessments, and working closely with State Forest Departments, NGOs, research institutions, consultants, and other stakeholders to mobilise specific actions.

The successful candidate should be equally comfortable in the field, engaging with frontline staff and local stakeholders, as well as coordinating technical outputs, donor reporting, and programme planning at the national level.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the Division Head in implementing WTIs national elephant corridor conservation programme.
2. Lead coordination of WTIs Green Corridor Champion (GCC) network, ensuring regular engagement, technical support, timely reporting and knowledge exchange.
3. Oversee the financial management of the programme, including budget monitoring, vendor payments and account settlements, ensuring timely utilization of funds and compliance with donor and organisational guidelines.
4. Coordinate elephant corridor assessments,



ground surveys and monitoring across states, ensuring standardised data collection and quality control.
5. Liaise with GIS specialists, field teams and technical experts to develop corridor maps, Elephant Corridor Profiles, State Reports and other technical outputs.
6. Build and maintain partnerships with State Forest Departments, NGOs, researchers and other stakeholders to facilitate corridor conservation actions.
7. Organise capacity-building programmes, technical workshops and stakeholder consultations.
8. Assist in proposal development, donor reporting, programme monitoring and overall project management.

Must have Skills -

- Experience working across multiple landscapes and coordinating conservation programmes involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience working with State Forest Departments and conservation partners.
- Strong understanding of ecological surveys, corridor assessments and conservation planning.
- Experience in project management, donor reporting and proposal development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India.

Desirable Skills -

- Experience working specifically on elephant corridor identification, assessment, monitoring or securement
- Experience in landscape ecology, spatial ecology or habitat connectivity modelling.
- Working knowledge of GIS, Remote Sensing and analytical tools such as R.
- Experience managing multi-state conservation programmes.
- Experience organising capacity-building programmes and stakeholder consultations.
