Assume full command and responsibility for the vessel, its navigation, and all onboard operations.
Ensure the safe and efficient passage planning and execution for national and international voyages.
Oversee celestial, terrestrial, and electronic navigation, ensuring the accuracy of charts and navigational equipment.
Monitor weather conditions and make informed decisions regarding route adjustments and heavy weather procedures.
Vessel Operations and Maintenance:
Ensure the vessel is maintained in a seaworthy and cargo-worthy condition.
Oversee and approve planned maintenance activities for the vessel and its equipment.
Manage bunkering operations and ensure fuel efficiency.
Supervise and approve stores and provisions requisitions.
Cargo Operations:
Direct and supervise all cargo loading, stowage, securing, and discharge operations in accordance with relevant regulations and best practices (specific to cargo type - e.g., tankers, bulk carriers, container ships).
Ensure the secure handling and care of all types of cargo carried.
Oversee the preparation and accuracy of cargo documentation.
