I. POSITION OVERVIEW
Job Title: Center Manager / Unit Head
Department: Operations & Business Development
Reporting To: Regional Business Manager
Business Unit: Apollo Clinic
II. JOB PURPOSE
The Center Manager / Unit Head holds end-to-end accountability for the operational excellence, financial performance, and market growth of the assigned unit. This role requires a dynamic leader who can seamlessly balance clinical and administrative compliance with proactive B2B corporate marketing and field-level doctor relationship management to drive patient footfall, maximize revenue, and lead a high-performing team.
III. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. B2B Strategic Growth & Referral Management
- Doctor Referral Networks: Personally conduct targeted field visits to community general physicians, specialists, and independent healthcare providers to promote Apollo Clinics medical capabilities and secure regular patient referrals.
- Local Healthcare Alliances: Build and manage strategic partnerships with local diagnostic centers, third-party labs, pharmacies, and ancillary healthcare entities to establish mutually beneficial referral ecosystems.
- Community & Corporate Engagement: Design, orchestrate, and supervise local health camps, corporate wellness programs, and residential society outreach drives to raise brand awareness and acquire recent patients.
- Lead Generation & Conversion: Actively scout local micro-markets for commercial opportunities; implement structured relationship-building frameworks and timely follow-ups to convert leads into sustained center footfall.
- Brand Representation: Serve as the premium face of the Apollo brand in all external interactions,
maintaining elite communication standards and professional corporate positioning.
- Outreach Governance: Maintain meticulous daily records of external visits, leads generated, and referral outcomes; coordinate directly with internal teams (nursing, laboratory, and front office) to ensure a seamless service experience for referred patients.
2. Operational Excellence & Financial Governance
- P&L; Management: Own and drive the unit's financial performance to achieve the targeted 10 Crores annual business benchmark while strictly regulating center expenditures and accounting workflows.
- Leadership Reporting: Maintain a transparent and rigorous reporting cadence with the Regional Business Manager regarding business plan execution, revenue targets, and critical operational milestones.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously audit center operations to pinpoint bottlenecks, optimize the patient journey, and implement strategic areas for improvement.
- Facility & Asset Upkeep: Ensure peak operational maintenance of the 3,000 sq. ft. prime retail facility, prioritizing patient safety, data security, and absolute statutory compliance.
3. Human Capital & Team Leadership
- Multidisciplinary Supervision: Efficiently manage, mentor, and inspire a workforce of approximately 20 employees, including medical technicians, nursing staff, front office personnel, accountants, and sales executives.
- Workforce Scheduling:
Oversee comprehensive staff scheduling matrices, including daily work assignments, shift rotations, vacation planning, overtime tracking, and managing absenteeism back-ups to ensure zero service disruption.
- Service & Sales Culture: Foster a robust, empathetic, and goal-oriented internal culture through personal example, continuous coaching, and proactive staff motivation.
IV. CANDIDATE PROFILE & QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education & Accreditations
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelors degree from a recognized university.
- Preferred Specialization: Degree/Postgraduate qualification in Healthcare or Hospital Administration (MHA), or a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
2. Experience Parameters
- Total Domain Experience: Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the healthcare, hospital, or clinical diagnostics sector.
- Managerial Experience: At least 3 years of proven experience operating as a Branch Manager, Center Manager, or Profit Center Head with verified P&L; responsibility.
3. Core Competencies & Skills
- Commercial Acumen: Proven capability in field sales management, corporate healthcare pitching, local B2B relationship management, and clinical network building.
- Operational Intelligence: Thorough, deep-rooted knowledge of center operations, patient journey engineering, and local Hospital / Diagnostics market dynamics.
- Quality Standards (Desirable): Exposure to Quality Management systems and the execution of premium healthcare accreditations such as NABL, NABH, or JCIA.
- Leadership Traits: High intrinsic drive, operational initiative, exceptional crisis management capability, and top-tier interpersonal and communication skills.
