Job Summary

The Machine Shop Shift Incharge is responsible for managing machine shop operations during the assigned shift, ensuring production targets, quality standards, safety compliance, and effective utilization of manpower and machines. The role involves coordinating with production planning, maintenance, quality, and stores to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate all machine shop activities during the shift.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per the daily production plan.
- Monitor machine performance, productivity, and downtime.
- Allocate work to operators based on skill and workload.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Coordinate with the Quality department for inspections and corrective actions.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and report machine breakdowns promptly.
- Minimize machine idle time and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Maintain discipline, attendance, and shift handover documentation.
- Ensure proper utilization of raw materials, tools, and consumables.
- Monitor tool life and coordinate tool replacement.
- Implement and maintain 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Investigate production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).




- Prepare and submit daily production and shift reports.
- Train and mentor machine operators and new employees.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering or related field.
- 510 years of experience in a machine shop, with at least 23 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with CNC machines, VMC, HMC, conventional machines, or machining centers.
- Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and production planning.

- Root cause analysis and problem-solving.
- TPM, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Excel, ERP/MRP systems).
