Job Description Mechanic (Commercial Vehicle Service)

Position: Mechanic

Location: Sri Selvi Motors Private Limited / Reliable Motors – Mahindra Truck & Bus Division
Reporting To: Service Advisor / Workshop Supervisor

Job Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for carrying out inspection, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and servicing of Mahindra Commercial Vehicles (ILCV, HCV, and Buses) in accordance with Mahindra standards. The role ensures quality repairs, timely job completion, customer satisfaction, and adherence to workshop safety and quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, and scheduled servicing of Mahindra commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brake, clutch, cooling, and fuel system issues.
- Carry out repairs and replacement of faulty components as per Mahindra repair guidelines.
- Use workshop tools, special service tools (SST), and diagnostic equipment effectively.
- Perform vehicle inspection and identify additional repair requirements.
- Ensure all repair work is completed within the standard labour time.
- Conduct quality checks and road tests after repairs to ensure vehicle performance.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of workshop tools, equipment, and work area.
- Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Record repair details accurately on job cards and communicate findings to the Service Advisor.
- Coordinate with the Parts Department for the availability of genuine spare parts.
- Attend Mahindra technical training programs and update technical knowledge regularly.




- Support breakdown service and emergency repair activities when required.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Qualification

- ITI (Motor Mechanic Vehicle / Diesel Mechanic / Automobile) or Diploma in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering.
- Apprenticeship certification is preferred.

Experience

- 0–5 years of experience in commercial vehicle or automobile service.
- Fresh ITI/Diploma candidates may also apply.

Skills Required

- Knowledge of diesel engine systems and commercial vehicle maintenance.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
- Understanding of Mahindra service processes (preferred).
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Time management and problem-solving ability.
- Commitment to quality and workplace safety.

Working Conditions

- Workshop-based role with occasional field or breakdown support.
- Ability to work in shifts and overtime during peak workloads.
- Physically fit to perform repair and maintenance activities.
