Role & responsibilities
Position: Maintenance Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance programs for plant machinery and utilities to maximize equipment reliability, machine uptime, and plant availability.
- Develop annual, monthly, weekly, and daily maintenance schedules, including planning and execution of annual maintenance shutdowns with minimal impact on production.
- Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance team, including engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
- Analyze equipment failures using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce machine downtime and repeat failures.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs such as equipment uptime, maintenance cost, and schedule compliance.
- Implement TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Autonomous Maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Purchase departments to achieve operational goals.
- Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, optimize repair, spare parts, power, and fuel expenses, and ensure effective resource utilization.
- Manage spare parts inventory, critical spares, consumables, and vendor relationships to ensure timely availability.
- Ensure statutory compliance, equipment inspections, documentation, and liaison with regulatory authorities such as the Electricity Board.
- Oversee maintenance of HT & LT panels, power and distribution transformers, substations, generators/DG sets, compressors, boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, water treatment plants, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.
- Lead installation, commissioning, testing, inspection, validation, and plant modifications to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, inventory usage, downtime analysis, and equipment records through ERP/SAP.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, compliance policies, and company procedures to achieve safe maintenance operations for men and machines.
- Drive energy-saving initiatives and equipment reliability improvement projects.
- Experience in PLC machine handling, including hardware and software.
- Knowledge of civil-related works will be an added advantage.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- 1015 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including a minimum of 5 years in a Maintenance Manager or leadership role.
- Holding C Licence Mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, automation, PLCs, and industrial instrumentation systems.
- Working knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Reliability Engineering, Predictive Maintenance techniques, and SAP/ERP maintenance modules.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong team management, leadership, planning, communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing setting.
- Ability to develop short-term and long-term maintenance strategies aligned with the overall production plan.
