An SAP Project Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of SAP

implementation, upgrade, cutover management or enhancement projects. Ensure projects are completed on

time, within budget (cost management and control), and meet the defined business objectives, while also

managing project teams, stakeholders, and risks.

Key Responsibilities of an SAP Project Manager:

Project Planning and Management -Defining project scope, goals, and deliverables, developing project plans,timelines, and budgets, and managing resources effectively.

Team Leadership and Coordination -Assembling and managing project teams, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and fostering collaboration to ensure alignment and communication.

Stakeholder Management -Communicating project status, managing expectations, and building relationships with stakeholders, including business users, IT teams, and senior management.

Risk and Issue Management- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and issues, developing contingency plans, and escalating critical problems as needed.

Quality Assurance and Testing -Ensuring adherence to quality standards, developing test plans, and coordinating testing activities to ensure the successful delivery of a high-quality SAP solution.

Change Management-Facilitating change management activities to ensure user adoption of the recent SAP system and minimize disruption to business operations.





Project Closure-Conducting post-implementation reviews, documenting lessons learned, and ensuring the

project is closed out successfully.

Agile / Scrum-Facilitating scrum events, removing impediments, backlog management, agile transformation,coaching the team, promoting continuous improvement.

SAP Knowledge-Having a solid understanding of SAP modules, methodologies, and best practices is essential for effective project management.

Typical Skills and Qualifications:

Project Management Skills-Proven experience in leading and managing complex projects, including planning,execution, monitoring, and reporting.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills-Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.

Leadership and Team Management-Ability to motivate and lead teams, delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative environment.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making -Ability to identify and analyze problems, develop solutions, and make sound decisions.

Technical Knowledge -Understanding of SAP systems, modules, and implementation methodologies.

Experience working on SAP projects (e.g., S/4HANA, ECC, SuccessFactors) is highly valuable.

Agile Tools -Proficiency in using Agile tools like Jira is essential.

Certification-Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2), SAP Activate and scrum master certification are often preferred.
