The candidate handles installation/configuration and maintenance and security patching of Linux-based servers and IT infrastructure. Requires solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to solve problems. Previous experience in Linux/Unix systems administration, customer support and/or related area is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Installing, configuring, troubleshooting and administering of Linux systems
- Ensure that the systems inventory is properly maintained
- Monitor systems proactively with monitoring tools
- Create and manage user account lifecycles and security groups
- Provide support to Linux systems including day-to-day operations for all services
- Provide assistance to customers in accessing to use the systems
- Closely work with other functional teams within IT to support customers requests
- Ensure compliance with advanced security policies such that stakeholder information is protected
- Flexibility to work in a 24/7 and oncall environment
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems and security patching
- Solid customer interaction skills with users of all levels
- Excellent Communication and collaboration skills
- Solid knowledge of network related services like NFS, NIS, LDAP, DNS and DHCP
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP and basic networking
- Ability to write and understand scripts written in UNIX SHELLs or Python
- General knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESX and Xen related technologies
- General or detailed knowledge of job scheduling software from IBM LSF is a plus
Experience / Education:
- BE or Bsc. with a minimum of 3-5 years of job-related experience is preferred.
