Role & responsibilities
- Lead a team of test engineers, technicians, and lab operators.
- Plan manpower deployment for multi-shift operations as required.
- Conduct periodic training and capability enhancement programs for the testing team.
- Mentor a team of Test & Validation engineers, providing technical guidance and career development.
- Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and validation protocols for battery cells, modules, and packs.
- Analyse test results, document compliance data, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement robust data acquisition, logging, and archival systems for all test parameters.
- Perform trend analysis, failure analysis, and provide actionable insights for design, process, or component improvements.
- Supervise routine tests and Safety tests including:
- Capacity and efficiency testing
- Charge-discharge cycling (performance and life cycle)
- Short-circuit, over-charge, over-discharge, and over-temperature protection verification
- IP rating (IP65/67) tests
- Vibration, mechanical shock, and drop tests
- BMS functionality and safety interlock tests
- Test and validate Battery Management System (BMS) functions.
- Collaborate closely with R&D;, Design,
and Manufacturing teams for prototype and new product validation.
- Maintain and manage battery test equipment and facilities, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Ensure battery systems meet stringent safety and performance requirements, and that test results are accurate and reliable.
- Identify opportunities to enhance test efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
- Implement lean testing practices, 5S, and laboratory safety initiatives.
Preferred candidate profile
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Power Systems / Energy Engineering
- Min. 5 yrs of relevant exp. in Li ion battery testing
- Expertise in battery testing methodologies, electrical and mechanical testing, and data analysis.
- Ability to lead a team, communicate technical information effectively, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to plan, execute, and manage multiple test projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEC 62133) and regulations.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues related to battery testing and performance.
