Job Title: Harness Engineer
Location: Hyderabad, India
Department: R&D; (Research & Development)
Company: Edgeforce Solutions
About Us: Edgeforce Solutions is an innovation-driven technology company specializing in the design and development of next-generation embedded systems and edge computing solutions. Our research and development team focuses on advanced hardware and firmware technologies that power Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and industrial automation applications. We are committed to delivering reliable, high-performance, and scalable solutions that drive innovation across a wide range of industries.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a highly hands-on Harness Engineer with strong practical experience in wiring harness design and assembly, cable routing, soldering, crimping, connector integration, and electrical system integration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, installing, and testing wiring harnesses for embedded systems, electric vehicles, battery packs, chargers, simulators and EVs.
This role requires close collaboration with hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure reliable system integration and troubleshooting. The position involves frequent travel to customer and deployment sites for installation, maintenance, and technical support. Candidates should be comfortable working in laboratory, workshop, and field environments, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop wiring harnesses for electric vehicle (EV), battery pack, and charger applications,
including the integration of embedded systems and electrical control panels.
Perform cable selection based on current rating, voltage class, temperature, flexibility, and environmental conditions
Select appropriate crimp terminals, lugs, and connectors based on electrical, mechanical, and reliability requirements
Create 2D harness drawings, schematics, and BOMs
Define crimping specifications, wire routing, protection (conduits, tapes, grommets), and sealing strategies
Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and ease of assembly
Validate designs through DFMEA, testing, and field feedback
Ensure compliance with applicable automotive, military, and industry standards, including JSS 55555 , IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, and relevant MIL specifications. Verify that wiring harnesses, electrical assemblies, and control panel integrations meet quality, safety, reliability, and performance requirements throughout the design, manufacturing, and testing lifecycle.
Support prototype builds, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of field issues
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals (current carrying capacity, voltage drop, insulation, derating, etc.)
- Hands-on knowledge of cable types (PVC, XLPE, XLPO,
shielded cables, high-voltage cables, RF cables, and military-grade cables)
- Experience in crimp terminal selection, crimping processes, and failure modes
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of automotive connector systems, including connector types, terminal selection, sealing classes, ingress protection (IP) ratings, and military-grade (MIL) connectors. Select and integrate connectors based on electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements to ensure reliable performance, durability, and compliance with applicable automotive, industrial, and military standards.
- Ability to think from first principles rather than relying only on catalogs or legacy designs
- Familiarity with wiring harness design tools (Solidworks)
- Experience with automotive or EV systems preferred
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Diploma in Electronics / Electrical or related field.
2-5 years of hands-on experience in Harness
Experience in UGV preferred
Key Competencies:
robust hands-on, practical, and field-oriented approach to engineering and system integration.
Ability to work independently in dynamic laboratory, workshop, and on-site deployment environments.
Excellent problem-solving and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently across India at short notice for installation, testing, and customer support.
High attention to detail with a commitment to quality, safety, and timely project execution.
