Lead Non-Functional Test Engineer (with Functional Test Management) Offshore, India
Location: India (Offshore)
Experience: 8+ Years

Role Summary
We're looking for a hands-on Non-Functional Test Engineer with 8+ years of experience across Performance, Infrastructure, and Security Testing. You'll also be expected to manage functional testing activities from offshore. Day to day, you'll own the non-functional testing agenda making sure our enterprise applications, ETL platforms, SAP systems, and cloud environments perform under pressure, remain secure, and are production ready. On the functional side, you'll coordinate the offshore QA team, manage defect triage, and keep onshore stakeholders informed through clear reporting. Utilities experience (Energy, Water, Gas, Smart Metering) is a strong advantage; however, candidates from other enterprise domains with relevant expertise are also encouraged to apply.
You'll lead a small offshore team and be the go-to person for all non-functional testing activities on the India side.
Key Responsibilities
Non-Functional Testing (Primary)
- Plan and execute performance testing including Load, Stress, Endurance, Spike, and Scalability testing.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate with Development and Infrastructure teams to resolve them.
- Validate infrastructure across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
- Verify server configurations, cloud deployments (Azure/AWS), networking, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and ensure compliance with security standards.
- Test authentication, authorization, encryption, and API security.
- Define non-functional acceptance criteria, SLAs, and performance benchmarks with architects and product owners.
- Develop and maintain performance test scripts, reusable frameworks, and test data.
- Perform reliability testing including failover, disaster recovery, and basic chaos engineering.
- Support accessibility testing where required.
Functional Test Management (Offshore Coordination)
- Lead the offshore functional testing team by assigning work,
tracking progress, and removing blockers.
- Review test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices.
- Own the complete defect lifecycle including triage, prioritization, and resolution tracking.
- Provide daily and weekly test reports and dashboards to onshore stakeholders.
- Ensure complete test coverage against business requirements.
- Serve as the single point of contact for offshore testing activities.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and maintain testing documentation.
- Manage test environments, provisioning, test data, and data masking.
- Perform API and integration testing using Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI, or similar tools.
Technical Skills Required
Performance & Load Testing
- Hands-on experience with JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or k6.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, App Insights, or similar.
- Strong understanding of workload modelling and performance test design.
Infrastructure & Cloud
- Experience with Linux and Windows server environments.
- Working knowledge of Azure or AWS (Compute, Networking, Storage, Deployments).
- Experience with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or similar CI/CD platforms.
- Docker/Kubernetes knowledge is an added advantage.
Security Testing
- Experience with Burp Suite or similar security scanning tools.
- Good understanding of OWASP, SAST/DAST, and API Security Testing.
Databases
- Ability to write SQL queries and validate data in Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Snowflake.
API & Integration Testing
- Experience with Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of API contracts, response validation, error handling, and data integrity.
Reporting
- Experience using Confluence or SharePoint for documentation.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI or Microsoft Excel for dashboards and reporting.
Ways of Working
- Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban); SAFe exposure is a plus.
- Good understanding of Shift-Left Testing and Continuous Testing within CI/CD pipelines.

- Exposure to Shift-Left Testing or DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with Service Virtualization tools (WireMock, Mountebank).
- Knowledge of Observability and SRE practices.
- Utilities domain experience including Smart Metering, SAP IS-U/CCS, Meter-to-Cash, Field Service, or Energy Retail.
- Knowledge of Regulatory/Compliance Testing in Utilities (Ofgem, Market Messaging, Industry Data Flows).
- Experience with Chaos Engineering tools (Chaos Monkey, Gremlin, LitmusChaos).
- Experience using Accessibility Testing tools (Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse).
