Senior Data Engineer Power BI, MS SQL Server, and Azure Data Factory

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in Power BI to design, build, and optimize enterprise reporting and analytics solutions on Microsoft Azure. This role is primarily Power BI centric, with mandatory strong hands-on experience in MS SQL Server and Azure Data Factory (ADF).

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in Power BI data modeling, DAX, dashboard development, semantic model design, and Power BI Paginated Reports, along with strong SQL development, performance tuning, and data pipeline engineering using ADF. The candidate should also be comfortable working across Azure data services and implementing contemporary CI/CD practices for data and reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and optimize end-to-end Power BI solutions including dashboards, reports, semantic models, datasets, and Power BI Paginated Reports
- Translate business reporting and analytics requirements into scalable, high-performance Power BI solutions
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Azure Data Factory and related Azure data services
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views in MS SQL Server and Azure SQL environments
- Perform data modeling for reporting and analytics use cases, ensuring scalability, reusability, and performance
- Integrate data from multiple enterprise source systems into curated reporting datasets
- Implement best practices for Power BI development, deployment, workspace management, governance, and report performance optimization




- Collaborate with business users, analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality reporting and analytics solutions
- Monitor and troubleshoot data refresh, pipeline failures, report performance, and data quality issues in production
- Ensure data security, integrity, compliance, and adherence to organizational standards across reporting and data platforms
- Support CI/CD implementation for data engineering and Power BI reporting solutions using Azure DevOps, Git, and infrastructure automation tools
- Document reporting architecture, data flows, technical design, and operational processes

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics solution delivery
- Advanced hands-on experience in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX development, report and dashboard design, semantic model optimization, workspace management, and deployment best practices
- Mandatory experience in designing and developing Power BI Paginated Reports, with strong hands-on expertise in writing and optimizing DAX queries for paginated report development
- Mandatory strong experience in MS SQL Server, including complex SQL development,



performance tuning, relational database design, and creation of stored procedures, functions, and views
- Mandatory strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for building and orchestrating data integration pipelines
- Strong working knowledge of Azure data services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Blob Storage / Data Lake, and Azure Logic Apps
- Strong understanding of integrating Power BI with Azure and SQL-based data platforms
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines, and Git
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, or Bicep
- Understanding of data governance, data lineage, metadata management, and deployment controls
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices

Preferred Qualifications

- Microsoft certifications such as DP-203: Azure Data Engineer Associate are highly desirable
- Microsoft Power BI certifications are an added advantage
- Experience with PowerShell, Python, or Azure CLI for automation
- Experience with real-time or near real-time reporting frameworks such as Azure Stream Analytics and Event Hubs
- Experience with Cosmos DB is a plus
- Understanding of data privacy and compliance practices
- Working experience or strong knowledge of Databricks is a plus
