Job Description: Project Accounting & Compliance Manager

About the role: MEICON Group is seeking a Project Accounting & Compliance Manager to support accounting operations for a U.S.-based residential and commercial real estate developer. This role will be responsible for managing project-level accounting, financial reporting, cost tracking, compliance coordination, and supporting audits in accordance with U.S. accounting standards (US GAAP), while ensuring adherence to internal SOPs and financial governance frameworks. The role requires strong experience in structured accounting environments, multi-entity consolidation, and audit coordination.

Location : Kokapet, Hyderabad, Telangana.

Skills and Responsibilities: 1. Project Accounting

- Maintain project-wise ledgers for multiple residential, commercial and infrastructure developments
- Track:
- Construction costs
- Developer fees
- Change orders
- Capital expenditures
- Soft costs & hard costs

- Monitor budget vs actual cost reporting
- Support revenue recognition for development and sale transactions
- Maintain WIP schedules and job cost reports

2. U.S. Financial Reporting & Compliance

- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports under U.S. GAAP
- Support preparation of:
- Balance Sheet
- Income Statement




- Cash Flow Statements
- Project-level financial summaries

- Assist in loan covenant reporting and lender compliance packages
- Support tax accountants with documentation for federal and state filings
- Ensure documentation compliance as per internal SOP

3. Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight

- Review vendor invoices and subcontractor billing
- Ensure three-way matching (Contract PO Invoice)
- Track retainage and lien waivers
- Monitor receivables from property sales, leasing, or tenant improvements
- Reconcile intercompany transactions

4. Consolidation & Entity-Level Reporting

- Assist in consolidation of multiple SPVs / LLCs under the developers structure
- Prepare intercompany reconciliations
- Maintain structured documentation for external audits
- Support year-end closing and audit schedules

5. SOP Implementation & Process Control

- Implement and maintain accounting SOP for:
- Invoice processing
- Budget tracking
- Cost coding standards
- Document retention
- Approval workflows

- Ensure all financial documentation is audit-ready
- Develop financial dashboards and reporting templates
- Identify process improvement opportunities

6. Audit & Lender Coordination

- Act as liaison for:
- External auditors




- Tax consultants
- Lenders

- Prepare audit schedules and respond to queries
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements and capital partner requirements

Required Qualifications

- Chartered Accountant (CA) / CPA equivalent preferred
- 5+ years of experience in:
- Real estate accounting
- Construction accounting
- Statutory audit or project finance

- Strong understanding of:

- U.S. GAAP
- Revenue recognition
- Cost capitalization
- Multi-entity structures

- Experience with consolidation of financial statements
- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced), ERP systems (SAP, Yardi, QuickBooks, etc.)

Preferred Experience

- Experience supporting U.S.-based real estate developers
- Knowledge of:
- Construction draw processes
- Lender reporting
- Joint venture accounting
- Transfer pricing / intercompany allocations

- Experience working in remote, structured SOP-driven environments

Requirements and Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- 35 years of experience in construction project accounting and audit.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with high compliance standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Robust communication skills for U.S.-based stakeholders
- Process-driven mindset
