Role Summary

The Category Executive Fruits & Vegetables will be responsible for end-to-end management of the F&V; category at the dark store level, ensuring optimal availability, freshness, quality, and profitability while supporting the quick-paced demands of quick-commerce (q-commerce) delivery operations. This role bridges category strategy with on-ground store execution.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Availability Management

- Ensure daily stock availability of fruits and vegetables based on demand forecasts and local consumption patterns
- Monitor stock levels in real-time and coordinate with the supply chain/procurement team to avoid stockouts or overstocking
- Track and minimize shrinkage, spoilage, and wastage through proper handling and FIFO/FEFO practices

Quality Control

- Conduct daily quality checks on incoming produce against defined quality standards (freshness, size, ripeness, damage levels)
- Reject substandard produce at receiving and escalate recurring vendor quality issues
- Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity) for different produce categories

Vendor & Supply Coordination

- Liaise with local mandis, farmers, distributors, or centralized procurement teams for timely replenishment
- Support in vendor evaluation and price negotiation for local sourcing where applicable




- Coordinate delivery schedules to align with store operating hours and peak demand windows

Category Performance

- Track category-level KPIs: sales, sell-through rate, wastage %, fill rate, and customer complaints
- Analyze SKU-level performance and recommend assortment changes (additions/deletions) based on local demand
- Support pricing and promotional activities in coordination with the central category team

Store Operations Support

- Ensure proper merchandising, labeling, and weight/pricing accuracy for loose and packaged produce
- Train and guide store staff on handling, sorting, and packing of F&V; items
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and food-handling standards (FSSAI norms where applicable)

Reporting & Coordination

- Prepare daily/weekly reports on stock, wastage, sales, and quality issues
- Coordinate with central category, supply chain, and quality teams for continuous improvement
- Flag operational bottlenecks impacting category performance to store/regional management

Qualifications

- Graduate in any discipline (preferred: Agriculture, Food Science, Supply Chain, or Business Management)
- 13 years of experience in category management, retail operations, or F&V;/perishables handling (q-commerce/retail/FMCG background preferred)
- Freshers with strong agri-business or retail category exposure may also be considered
