Role & responsibilities
Embedded Systems Engineer
(Robotics, Drone & Powertrain)
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of robotics, power management, and real-time control. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the firmware that drives our autonomous systems, including custom Battery Management Systems (BMS), high-performance Motor Controllers, Drone and Robotic Actuation platforms. Additionally, you will leverage edge data analytics to monitor system health, optimize performance, and drive predictive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Firmware Development: Design, code, and test safety-critical, real-time embedded with bootloader concepts software in C for bare-metal and RTOS-based microcontrollers & Python Programming & Scripting.
- Motor Control Implementation: Develop and optimize Field Oriented Control (FOC) and advanced PWM algorithms for BLDC/PMSM motors to achieve maximum efficiency and minimal torque ripple.
- BMS Architecture: Design firmware for multi-cell Battery Management Systems, including algorithms for State of Charge (SOC), State of Health (SOH), cell balancing, and critical fault protection layers.
- Robotics & Sensor Integration: Integrate actuators and sensors (IMUs, Encoders, LiDAR) into our navigation and control pipelines; develop hardware abstraction layers and interface directly with ROS/ROS2.
- Network & Communication: Implement robust communication protocols over CAN, CAN-FD, SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet to ensure seamless data flow between the BMS, motor controllers, and primary vehicle/robot computers.
- Data Analysis & Telemetry:
Build efficient data-logging architectures and utilize Python (Pandas, NumPy) to analyze field telemetry, identify system bottlenecks, characterize thermal behavior, and improve hardware performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience: 2 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software development for electronics hardware & robotic systems.
- Core Languages: Expert-level proficiency in C and C++ for microcontrollers, and strong Python skills for data processing and scripting.
- Real-Time Systems: Deep understanding of RTOS concepts (tasks, semaphores, queues) using FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar, alongside bare-metal development.
- Control Theory: Solid grasp of classical control theory, including PID loops, Space Vector PWM (SVPWM), and Kalman filtering.
- Silicon Experience: Experience working with high-performance MCUs (e.g., STM32G4/F4, TI C2000) and BMS Analog Front Ends (AFEs) from TI, Analog Devices, or NXP.
- Hardware Tools: Proficient with debugging tools, including digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and CAN bus analyzers (e.g., Kvaser, Vector).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 (ASIL) or IEC 61508.
- Familiarity with simulation and modeling in MATLAB / Simulink.
- Experience implementing lightweight Machine Learning models at the edge (TinyML) for anomaly detection.
- Background in the EV, AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot), or drone industries.
What We Offer
- [Competitive salary, healthcare benefits, and access to a state-of-the-art hardware lab.]
