JOB DESCRIPTION EMERGENCY MEDICINE DOCTOR

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department.

2.Stabilize critically ill or injured patients before admission, referral, or transfer.

3.Manage medical emergencies, trauma cases, poisoning, burns, cardiac emergencies, stroke, respiratory emergencies, and other life-threatening conditions.

4.Perform emergency procedures such as CPR, intubation, defibrillation, central venous access, suturing, wound care, fracture stabilization, and emergency resuscitation.

5.Coordinate with consultants and specialists for timely patient management and referrals.

6.Admit patients to the appropriate department after initial stabilization when required.

7.Interpret laboratory investigations, ECGs, X-rays, CT scans, and other diagnostic reports relevant to emergency care.

8Prescribe medications and ensure appropriate emergency treatment is provided.

9.Maintain accurate and complete medical records, emergency notes, consent forms,



and treatment documentation.

10.Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

11.Follow infection prevention and control practices at all times.

12.Ensure proper use and maintenance of emergency equipment, crash carts, ventilators, monitors, and defibrillators.

13.Participate in disaster management, mass casualty incidents, and emergency preparedness drills.

14.Work closely with Nursing, ICU, Operation Theatre, Laboratory, Radiology, Blood Bank, and Ambulance Services for coordinated patient care.

15.Ensure compliance with NABH standards, hospital policies, clinical protocols, and statutory regulations. Qualification:

MBBS with MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine or MD General Medicine with relevant emergency care experience

Valid State Medical Council Registration.
