Senior Kafka / Java Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a senior Kafka / Java engineer to join our technology innovation team.

This team is composed of experienced experts in their respective domains and works with a high level of autonomy on technically challenging and high-value initiatives. The teams mission is to explore, design, develop, and industrialize innovative solutions that support our products, platforms, and internal engineering teams.

The successful candidate will firstly focus on designing and developing event-driven solutions using Java, Kafka, and Kafka Streams. The role requires strong backend engineering skills, solid experience with distributed systems, and the ability to build robust, scalable, and maintainable streaming applications.

But other missions around Java technology will also be given.

Key Responsibilities

As a senior Kafka / Java engineer, you will be responsible for:

- Designing, developing, and maintaining backend components in Java.
- Designing and implementing event-driven architectures using Kafka and Kafka Streams.
- Building, evolving, and optimizing streaming data processing pipelines.
- Contributing to the architecture and technical design of reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Interacting with relational databases and enterprise systems where required.
- Analyzing, debugging, and resolving complex technical issues in distributed environments.
- Improving performance, robustness, maintainability, and code quality.
- Participating in code reviews and promoting engineering best practices.
- Working autonomously within a team of technical experts.
- Turning technical exploration and innovation topics into industrialized, production-ready solutions.

Required Profile





We are looking for a senior engineer with at least 10 years of experience in Java development, including significant hands-on experience with Kafka and Kafka Streams.

You have strong backend development experience, a solid understanding of distributed systems, and practical experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures. You are comfortable working on complex technical topics, understanding existing systems, proposing robust solutions, and delivering high-quality code with a high level of autonomy.

You should be able to collaborate effectively with other technical experts, challenge technical decisions constructively, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices.

Required Skills

- At least 10 years of professional experience in Java development.
- Robust expertise in Java backend development.
- Significant hands-on experience with Kafka.
- Significant hands-on experience with Kafka Streams.
- Solid understanding of event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
- Ability to design, develop, maintain, and optimize streaming applications.
- Strong understanding of data flows, messaging patterns, serialization, and integration principles.
- Good understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience working with complex enterprise software systems.
- Ability to analyze, design, and deliver solutions autonomously.
- Strong focus on software quality, maintainability, robustness, scalability, and performance.

Nice-to-Have Skills

- Experience with Spring Batch.
- Experience with Spring Shell.
- Experience with Oracle Database.
- Experience with Oracle JDBC.
- Experience with Azure Event Hubs.
- Experience in technology innovation, modernization, or technical industrialization initiatives.
