JOB DESCRIPTION STRAIGHTENING MACHINE OPERATOR

- Department: Cold Rolling Mill
- Process: Production
- Designation: Straightening Machine Operator
- Reporting To: Production Shift Incharge
- Experience: 10 to 12 Years in Section Mill as an Online and Offline Straightening Machine Operator
- Educational Qualification: 10th SSC + ITI (Fitter)

Job Summary

The Straightening Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining Online and Offline Straightening Machines used for straightening finished rolled products such as Angles, Channels, Beams, and Flat Bars. The operator must ensure that all products are properly straightened as per production and quality requirements while following safety and maintenance procedures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Operate Online and Offline Straightening Machines safely and efficiently.
- Receive daily work instructions from the Production Shift In charge.
- Straighten finished rolled products such as Angles, Channels, I-Beams, and Flat Bars as per production requirements.
- Ensure that the straightened products meet the required quality standards and customer specifications.
- Replace and set the rolls of Online and Offline Straightening Machines whenever required.
- Check and adjust machine settings before starting production.
- Maintain the straightening speed as per the production line requirements.
- Coordinate closely with the Cooling Bed and Production team for smooth material flow.
- Inspect machine rolls regularly and report damaged or worn-out rolls for repair or dressing.
- Keep spare rolls and required tools ready to avoid production delays.
- Perform routine machine inspections before and after every shift.
- Carry out basic maintenance and immediately report any machine faults or breakdowns.
- Maintain proper housekeeping around the machine and work area.
- Perform any other production-related duties assigned by the Production Shift In charge.





Key Responsibilities

- Ensure proper straightening of finished rolled products.
- Maintain machine settings and production efficiency.
- Replace and align machine rolls accurately.
- Maintain product quality as per production standards.
- Minimize machine downtime through timely inspection and maintenance.
- Coordinate effectively with production and maintenance teams.

Technical Skills Required

- Good knowledge of Online and Offline Straightening Machines.
- Practical knowledge of replacing and setting machine rolls.
- Knowledge of machine operation, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Autonomous Maintenance practices.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as:
- Measuring Tape
- Vernier Caliper
- Inside and Outside Micrometer
- Dial Gauge

- Ability to take measurements in both Metric and Inch systems.
- Knowledge of Local Control Desk operations and machine interlocks.
- Basic understanding of spare parts and inventory management.

Additional Requirements

- Knowledge of ISO systems and production-related documentation.
- Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, and Autonomous Maintenance practices.
- Must follow all company policies related to Safety, Health, and Environment (HSE).
- Physically fit and able to work in a hot manufacturing workplace.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in basic English.
- Good communication skills to work effectively with local and expatriate staff.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work in shifts.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Must follow all company rules and regulations at the workplace and company accommodation.
