Sourcing Manager
Job Summary:
The Sourcing Manager will serve as the primary sourcing representative at the India Liaison Office, responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing raw material suppliers across the Indian market for the company's EU-regulated product portfolio. This role bridges Indian supply capabilities with European compliance standards, ensuring a robust, cost-effective, and audit-ready supply chain for Solvents, Chemicals, Starting Materials, Intermediates (INT), APIs, and Excipients.
The position requires close collaboration with the European headquarters (Slovenia) and demands a solid command of EU regulatory frameworks, GMP requirements, and Indian pharmaceutical sourcing dynamics.
Tasks and duties:
Market Research & Supplier Identification:
- Conduct structured market research to identify qualified suppliers of Solvents, Chemicals, Starting Materials, Intermediates, APIs, and Excipients from India for EU-regulated markets.
- Source potential vendors for new product launches, while also identifying alternate and additional vendors for existing product categories to strengthen supply continuity.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives through proactive market intelligence and benchmarking.
Supplier Qualification & Database Management
- Gather and validate technical and commercial information from manufacturers in accordance with company-prescribed formats and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive, project-wise supplier database (existing and prospective), structured to company standard parameters.
- Assess supplier capabilities through scheduled facility visits and in-depth technical meetings.
- Monitor and track supplier commitments against agreed timelines and delivery schedules, coordinating closely to resolve delays or discrepancies.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all sourcing activities comply with EU regulatory frameworks, including EMA, EDQM, and National Competent Authority (NCA)
requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of CEPs (Certificates of Suitability), ASMFs (Active Substance Master Files), REACH regulations, and EU GMP standards.
- Monitor developments in Indian and EU import/export regulations, customs norms, and relevant industry standards, ensuring proactive compliance.
- Adhere to internal quality assurance, safety, health, fire safety, and environmental policies in all activities.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare regular, detailed market and sourcing reports, providing actionable insights to European stakeholders.
- Maintain consistent and structured communication with the counterpart team, ensuring timely updates and alignment on all sourcing activities.
- Present project status updates, vendor performance reviews, and market analyses to internal stakeholders.
- Establish and manage a clear communication channel for vendor queries and issue resolution.
Vendor Relationship Management
- Build and sustain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers.
- Conduct regular check-ins with vendors to monitor performance, address concerns, and identify value-enhancement opportunities.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers in alignment with company guidelines.
- Propose and recommend suitable vendors for formal evaluation and qualification by the European team.
Authorities & Decision Rights

Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of EU pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks: EMA, EDQM, NCA, REACH, GMP, CEPs, and ASMFs.
- Familiarity with Indian pharmaceutical manufacturing landscape and supplier ecosystem.
- Proficient in supplier assessment, commercial negotiation, and database management.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
