Job Title: MED Engineer
Department: Manufacturing Engineering Department (MED)
Location: Shirwal
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze job drawings for new projects in line with the shop plan.
- Identify and finalize tooling requirements, including assessment of existing tooling for new projects.
- Understand current machine capabilities and implement improvements to address bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to assess feasibility and optimize the use of existing tooling.
- Initiate and track procurement of current tooling, ensuring timely availability aligned with production needs.
- Provide technical support to vendors for tooling manufacturing and ensure timely delivery.
- Conduct performance trials for new tooling prior to production release and implement corrective actions for any non-conformities.
- Develop and standardize SOPs for FOAK (First-of-a-Kind) projects in coordination with IED, Production Head, and Engineering.
- Prepare & issue SOPs and tooling documentation to all relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor shop-floor processes to ensure smooth operations across all work centers, achieving targeted RFT (Right First Time) and minimizing COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality).
- Take immediate action in case of tooling shortages, damage or failures.
- Participate in scheduled reviews and meetings (TPM, MED, Safety, Services, etc.) and resolve MED-related issues.
- Work closely with Planning and Production teams for effective tooling and production planning.
- Maintain documentation and records in compliance with ISO 9000 and other quality standards.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and promote a safe working culture within the MED shop.
- Identify and implement initiatives related to productivity, digitization, and safety improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, QAC, Materials, and Field Engineering to eliminate design-stage errors.
- Lead design, development, and implementation of industrial automation projects to enhance productivity including cycle time reduction, TPT optimization, and cost reduction projects.
2)Critical Competencies:
a) Functional Competencies:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and drafting.
- Robust expertise in:
- Engineering drawing interpretation & Drawing Study
- CNC machining processes (turning, drilling, milling), tooling selection, prove-out, parameter optimization and tooling life improvement
- Tube bending operation, its tooling design and prove-out, defect identification, analysis and troubleshooting
- Boiler pressure part manufacturing processes
- Expertise in Industrial automation (Robots and SPMs)
- Understanding of thermal engineering concepts related to boilers and heaters.
- Familiarity with design codes such as IBR and ASME.
- Capability in designing tools for pressure part manufacturing (CNC machining, tube bending, etc.).
- Strong process planning and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to TBWES products.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, Lean manufacturing etc.
