Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.
Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M; global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
Bechtel are seeking personnel to join multiple existing and upcoming projects comprising copper/gold concentrators with associated ROM feed, ore handling, processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and construction accommodation villages.
Increasing production of minerals is critical to allow the development of key components for clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy and the need for commodities is critical to underpinning the energy transition. Job Summary:
In this role you will be responsible for preparing hydrologic/ hydraulic engineering calculations and reports produced for one or more projects, under the supervision of a senior hydraulic engineer. You will lead and provide discipline knowledge and information to multidisciplinary engineering studies, coordinate with others to identify the most appropriate solutions, and present the results to the project team, including external clients. As a mid-level engineering specialist, you will be required to exercise the corresponding degree of autonomy and engineering judgment with assigned tasks to ensure high-value results. You will be required to travel to job sites and participate in technical inspections as project needs dictate.

Major Responsibilities:
- Prepare, and/or check hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, and develop conceptual designs, studies and reports, in accordance with applicable Bechtel procedures, industry codes & standards, and contract requirements.
- Provide hydraulic and hydrologic engineering input to work packages such as water supply, slurry transport and handling, hydrologic analyses, hydraulic transient analysis, stormwater management, hydraulic structures, etc., in support of civil and piping designs.
- Support one or more projects and studies executed worldwide, as dictated by need and availability.
- Meet schedule and budget for the assigned tasks, while following Bechtel procedures and keeping high technical quality.
- Support management of the hydraulic and hydrologic scope of work (schedule, budget, deliverables, staffing) for a major project, or for several smaller studies, as needed.
- Seek input from and coordinate work tasks with other technical specialists, engineering disciplines, and project personnel, as needed.
- Participate in and foster a work environment based upon openness, trust, effective communication, teamwork, innovation, and satisfaction.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor s degree in civil engineering (or international equivalent) and a minimum of:
- - 7+ years of relevant EPC industry experience, or
- 5+ years of relevant EPC industry experience, if holds a MSc degree, or
- 3+ years of relevant EPC industry experience, if holds a PhD degree.
- Solid experience developing hydraulic / hydrologic engineering tasks, such as design calculations, analyses, studies and reports.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Able to fluently communicate in English, both verbally and in written communications (high proficiency).
- Possesses strong organizational and teamwork skills, problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
- Possesses solid skills in using specialty computer programs such as: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, Global Mapper, FluidFlow, hydraulic transient software, Flow 3D Hydro, and/or similar software packages.
- Working knowledge of international codes & standards, and regulations for hydraulic and hydrologic engineering matters (e.g. ANSI/HI, ASME, AWWA, API, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively on teams whose members reside in several distributed offices and whose interaction is most frequently by phone or email.
- Proactive in reaching others to coordinate and complete the work correctly and on time, in a multidisciplinary workplace.
- Willingness and ability to travel to and remain at jobsites on generally short-term assignments (from few days, up to several weeks at a time).
- Previous experience working on large industrial EPC projects will be a plus.
