Job Title: Maker Lab Manager

Role Summary

The Maker Lab Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, planning, maintenance, and safety of the university s Maker Lab a multidisciplinary innovation space focused on electronics, prototyping, physical computing, and rapid fabrication. This is a hands-on technical and coordination role that bridges academics, innovation, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Lab Management Operations

- Manage and maintain tools, kits, microcontrollers, sensors, 3D printers, and prototyping stations.
- Set up and reset workspaces for scheduled classes and open-access hours.
- Ensure all equipment is safely stored, labeled, and accessible.

Technical Support

- Assist students and faculty with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensors, motors, actuators, 3D printers, and digital fabrication tools.
- Troubleshoot circuits, devices, and software installations (Arduino IDE, slicing tools, etc.).
- Perform periodic maintenance and calibration of tools and machines.

Procurement Inventory

- Track and maintain inventory of consumables (resistors, wires, sensors, filament, etc.).
- Raise purchase requests, follow up on orders, and maintain vendor relationships.
- Keep accurate documentation of stock usage, maintenance logs, and repair needs.

Student Faculty Support





- Mentor students on basic electronics, fabrication techniques, and prototyping best practices.
- Support classroom sessions and final evaluations for the Maker Lab course.
- Conduct technical induction for new students using the space.

Innovation Culture Building

- Organize short workshops (e.g., soldering, 3D modeling, robotics basics).
- Assist in student-led events, hackathons, and interdisciplinary challenges.
- Foster a culture of experimentation, problem-solving, and safety.

Qualifications Skills

Required:

- Diploma/B.Tech in Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Robotics, or related field.
- 2 5 years of hands-on experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensors, motors, breadboarding, and prototyping.
- Familiarity with soldering, wiring, and use of multimeters.
- Working knowledge of 3D printing and slicing software (Cura, PrusaSlicer, etc.).
- Comfortable using and teaching the Arduino IDE, Tinkercad, or equivalent platforms.

Preferred:

- Experience managing or supporting innovation labs, fab labs, or electronics workshops.
- Exposure to laser cutting, CNC routing, or PCB prototyping.
- Positive interpersonal and mentoring skills.
- Fluent in English and Hindi.
