Position: Java Backend Engineer Catalog Merchant Tools

Role Overview
You ll join the Merchandising Technology organization responsible for building and migrating Sam s Club s Catalog and Merchant Tools into Walmart s unified cloud platform.
This role demands strong backend development expertise in Java Spring Boot, hands-on experience with cloud-native deployments, and end-to-end ownership from code to production.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain high-availability Java microservices using Spring Boot and REST APIs.
- Develop event-driven systems with Kafka for asynchronous workflows.
- Implement fault-tolerant architectures using Resilience4j, Circuit Breakers, and Saga patterns.
- Participate in the migration of legacy modules (Python/Django) into a unified Walmart tech stack.
- Collaborate with architects to design scalable hybrid-cloud solutions deployed via Kubernetes (AKS/GKE).
- Manage deployments using Docker, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement observability and performance monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, and ELK.
- Participate in end-to-end ownership including integration testing, deployment validation, and production monitoring.
- Work closely with global stakeholders to deliver stable, performant systems at Walmart scale.
