Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Interface Manager to oversee our Kochi Metro Rail projects in the South Region, encompassing the states of Kerala.The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; out of which a minimum of 5+ years experience in Telecommunication domain in Metro Railway project or similar transportation system setting and be exposed to Interface Management role.
The Telecom Interface Manager will be responsible for co-ordination, managing and delivering telecom-related projects for the Metro Railway system. This includes planning, coordination, documentation, implementing, and maintaining telecom systems, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interface Identification & Management
Identify all internal and external interfaces:
Civil (stations, tunnels, depots)
E&M; systems (power, traction, ECS)
Signaling, AFC, rolling stock
External agencies (utility providers, authorities, telecom operators)
Develop and maintain an Interface Register / Interface Matrix
Define interface boundaries and responsibilities clearly between stakeholders
- Coordination Between Multiple Stakeholders
Act as the single point of coordination between:
Telecom contractor
Other system contractors (Signaling, SCADA, AFC)
Civil contractors
Client / PMC / General Consultant
Conduct regular interface meetings and ensure closure of action points
Facilitate design compatibility and integration
- Design Interface Management
Review and validate interface-related design documents, including:
Cable routing, tray layouts, containment plans
Equipment room layouts (TERs, CERs, SERs)
Power and earthing requirements for telecom equipment
Ensure compliance with:
Project specifications
Interface requirements
Standards and codes
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
Develop, review,
and manage Interface Control Documents
Ensure ICDs clearly define:
Technical requirements
Data exchange protocols
Physical and logical connectivity
Obtain approval from all stakeholders
- Change Management (Interface Impact)
Assess impact of design / scope changes on:
Other systems
Installation timelines
Dependencies
Coordinate design revisions and approvals
Maintain version control of interface documents
- Construction & Installation Coordination
Ensure availability of fronts based on interface readiness
Coordinate:
Cable containment readiness
Equipment room handover
Power availability
Resolve site-level clashes or conflicts
- Testing & Commissioning Interfaces
Plan and coordinate integrated testing across systems:
Telecom with signaling interfaces
SCADA integration
Control room communication systems
Ensure interface readiness for Testing & Commissioning (T&C;)
Validate end-to-end system integration
- Risk & Issue Management
Identify interface-related risks:
Delayed inputs from other contractors
Design mismatches
Space constraints
Maintain Interface Risk Register
Drive timely resolution and escalation
- Documentation & Reporting
Maintain:
Interface registers
Meeting minutes (MOMs)
Action trackers
Provide regular status reports to project leadership
Track interface closure progress
- Stakeholder & Authority Coordination
Interface with:
Local authorities
Utility agencies (power, telecom)
Inspecting agencies
Ensure compliance for external telecom link integration (OFC, radio, etc.)
- Schedule & Dependency Management
Align interface deliverables with project schedule
Track inter-dependencies between systems
Support planning team in:
Identifying critical interfaces
Mitigating delays
- Contractual & Commercial Interface Handling
Interpret contractual interface clauses
Support in:
Claims related to interface delays
