Job Roles/Resposibilites:
Role Summary:

The SAP Data Migration Functional Data Analyst is responsible for partnering with business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure successful data migration throughout the SAP implementation lifecycle. The role requires a strong functional understanding of the assigned SAP process area, combined with deep expertise in data conversion, migration strategies, business data quality, and cutover execution.
The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, drive high-quality deliverables, collaborate effectively with business and IT teams, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Design Phase
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document data conversion and migration requirements.
Identify and document data profiling, cleansing, and enrichment requirements.
Prepare Functional Specifications for data conversion objects.
Develop Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documents.
Define transformation rules, mapping logic, default values, value mappings (cross-reference), conditional transformations, and business rules.
Define business validation rules and data quality acceptance criteria.
Establish data profiling rules to identify data quality issues before migration.
Recommend object-level data cleansing strategies and best practices.
Work with business process owners to define mandatory fields, business-critical fields, and data ownership.
Review SAP configuration dependencies that impact data migration.
Participate in migration strategy workshops and solution design sessions.
Build & Testing Phase
Guide business users on data enrichment templates and data preparation activities.
Coordinate data cleansing and enrichment activities across business teams.
Support the technical data migration team in preparing conversion programs and load files.
Review transformation logic and mapping documents for completeness and accuracy.
Coordinate execution of mock conversions and trial migration cycles.
Validate pre-load reports before migration.




Coordinate post-load business validation activities.
Review reconciliation reports and ensure business sign-off.
Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Dress Rehearsals from a data migration perspective.
Cutover & Go-Live
Participate in cutover planning and execution.
Coordinate business readiness for data migration activities.
Execute functional cutover tasks related to data migration.
Perform SAP configuration verification before data loads.
Coordinate pre-load and post-load activities.
Review technical load logs and support issue resolution.
Guide technical teams in resolving SAP load errors related to:
IDocs
BAPIs
LTMC / Migrate Your Data
SAP validation failures
Configuration issues
Master data dependencies
Coordinate business validation after data loads.
Ensure reconciliation activities are completed successfully before business sign-off.
Support production go-live and hypercare activities.
Defect Management
Coordinate data migration defects with business and IT stakeholders.
Drive defect resolution within agreed timelines.
Analyze root causes of migration failures.
Ensure fixes are validated before deployment.
Track migration issues through closure.
Escalate risks proactively.

Preferred Experience
10+ years of SAP functional consulting experience.
Minimum of 3 full-cycle SAP implementation projects with significant data migration responsibilities.
Experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA implementations.
Hands-on experience with SAP data migration tools such as IDocs, BAPIs, LTMC/Migrate Your Data, or equivalent.
Experience working with global implementation programs is preferred.
Exposure to data quality and governance initiatives is an advantage.
