About the Role Design for Safety and Reliability Practitioner ensures that our Breaker products meet the highest standards of functional safety, reliability, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in DfSR methodologies, functional safety standards and hands - on experience with Breaker Final Distribution Products/System.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply Design for Safety and Reliability (DfSR) principles during product development to meet safety integrity and reliability targets.
- Conduct Functional Safety Analysis (FMEA, FMEDA, Fault Tree Analysis) and ensure compliance with IEC and ISO standards.
- Define and validate Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS) for Breakers Final Distribution systems.
- Collaborate with design teams to implement safety architectures and diagnostic coverage strategies.
- Perform reliability modeling and prediction using tools like ReliaSoft, Weibull++, or equivalent.
- Develop and execute safety validation and reliability test plans (HALT, HASS, burn - in, thermal, surge, vibration, etc. ).
- Support certification processes with third - party agencies (e. g. , T V, UL).
- Drive root cause analysis for safety or reliability - related failures and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation for safety case development and compliance audits.
Required Qualifications Skills
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
- Functional Safety Certification (e. g. , T V FS Engineer) and Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in safety and reliability engineering, preferably in motor control or industrial automation.
- Solid knowledge of IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 60204,
and related safety standards.
- Hands - on experience with Motor Management Relays, Solid - State Relays, Breakers related technologies.
- Proficiency in FMEA, FMEDA, Fault Tree Analysis, and reliability prediction tools.
- Excellent problem - solving, analytical, and cross - functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in industrial automation, power systems, or safety - critical systems.
- Knowledge of thermal management, surge protection, and electronic component reliability.
- Familiarity with digital motor protection systems and IoT - enabled safety diagnostics.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Metrics
- Safety Compliance: 100% compliance with IEC 61508 / ISO 13849 for all new designs.
- Successful completion of safety audits and certifications without major findings.
- Reliability Targets: Achieve > 95% reliability for new products within the first year of launch.
- DfSR Execution: 100% completion of FMEA, FMEDA, and safety risk assessments for all projects.
- Number of design improvements implemented based on safety and reliability analysis.
- Testing Validation: On - time completion of safety validation and reliability test plans.
- Pass rate of safety and reliability tests on first attempt (target: > 90%).
- Continuous Improvement: Number of corrective/preventive actions successfully implemented.
- Contribution to safety guidelines and lessons learned database.
