Purpose/Objective

The Head – Airport Operations is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end airport operations, ensuring safe, productive, regulatory-compliant, and customer-centric functioning of the airport.
The role oversees airside, terminal, landside, emergency response, passenger services, operational readiness, stakeholder coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Operational Leadership - Lead overall airport operations including airside, terminal, landside, and ancillary operational functions.
- Ensure seamless airport functioning with focus on safety, efficiency, service quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, SOPs, and performance standards.
- Drive operational readiness for current and future airport expansion projects.
Airside Operations Management - Oversee aircraft movements, apron operations, stand allocation, A-CDM activities, and turnaround performance.
- Ensure compliance with DGCA, BCAS, AAI, ICAO, and applicable aviation regulations.
- Monitor runway, taxiway, apron, and airfield operations to maintain operational safety and efficiency.
- Lead airport emergency preparedness and response mechanisms.
Terminal & Passenger Operations - Ensure superior passenger experience across check-in, security, boarding, arrival, baggage handling, and customer facilitation processes.
- Drive service quality initiatives and passenger satisfaction metrics.
- Collaborate with airlines and service partners to improve operational performance.
Safety, Security & Compliance - Ensure adherence to all safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead operational risk assessments, audits,



inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Monitor implementation of Safety Management System (SMS) and Airport Emergency Plan (AEP).
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities for inspections and certifications.
Stakeholder Management - Act as the key interface with airlines, ground handlers, CISF, BCAS, DGCA, AAI, customs, immigration, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective coordination among internal and external agencies for smooth airport operations.
- Lead regular operational review meetings and crisis management discussions.
Commercial & Financial Management - Optimize operational costs while maintaining high service standards.
- Monitor operational KPIs and productivity metrics.
- Support business growth through operational excellence and process improvements.
People Leadership - Lead and develop high-performing airport operations teams.
- Build succession planning, capability development, and talent management initiatives.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Technology & Innovation - Drive implementation of digital and smart airport initiatives.
- Leverage operational analytics and technology solutions for process optimization and efficiency enhancement.
- Support automation and future-ready airport operational systems.

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in aviation management, Engineering, Airport Operations, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- 15–20+ years of experience in airport operations, aviation, airlines, or airport infrastructure sectors.
