Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Purchase Manager to lead procurement activities for engineering, maintenance, utility, and capital equipment requirements in a pharmaceutical contract manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in vendor management, commercial negotiations, sourcing of engineering materials, and ensuring timely procurement while complying with GMP and company procurement policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement of engineering, maintenance, utility, and CAPEX items for pharmaceutical manufacturing plants.
- Source and develop reliable vendors for engineering components, equipment, and industrial services.
- Manage procurement of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, utility, and facility-related materials.
- Handle procurement of manufacturing equipment, spare parts, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) items.
- Conduct vendor evaluations, commercial negotiations, and finalize contracts to achieve cost optimization.
- Float RFQs, evaluate techno-commercial offers, prepare comparative statements, and release Purchase Orders.
- Coordinate with Engineering,
Maintenance, Projects, Production, QA, QC, Validation, and Finance teams for procurement planning.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to support plant operations and project execution.
- Manage CAPEX procurement for new projects, equipment installations, and facility expansions.
- Monitor supplier performance on quality, cost, and delivery parameters.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with GMP, audit requirements, and company SOPs.
- Maintain procurement documentation, MIS reports, and procurement KPIs.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives through alternate sourcing, localization, and strategic vendor partnerships.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, or Materials Management (Preferred).
Experience
- 8-20 years of experience in Engineering Purchase/Procurement within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
- Minimum 5-8 years in a team handling or managerial role preferred.
