Full Stack Web Developer

Forward Air Technology and Logistics Services is looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer to join an existing web development team tasked with creating and maintaining web-based extensions to our primary Line of Business applications.

Responsibilities

- Develop and extend product features for several consumer-facing and internal web-based applications.
- Contribute to the overall design and architecture of web-based systems.
- Develop and extend REST APIs to provide data to internal systems.
- Integrate with 3rd party APIs as needed.
- Assist with maintenance and product support for existing applications.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience working in a skilled software development environment.
- Experience developing PHP applications in an enterprise environment using modern frameworks (Laravel, CodeIgniter, etc).
- Experience with JavaScript and basic web-client front-end development (jQuery, etc.). Familiarity with modern frameworks (Vue, React, etc.) preferred.
- Understanding of modern software development concepts, such as Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, and Web Services/APIs.
- Familiarity with relational database systems (MySQL, MS-SQL [preferred]) including writing complex SQL queries, table design,



and evaluating query plans for performance optimization.
- Ability to function within an Agile team, including evaluating requirements, estimating project scope and size and defining iterative deliverable milestones to create and extend product features.
- Experience with version control systems (Git preferred) and familiarity with CI/CD deployment processes.

Additional Expectations / Preferred Candidate Profile
We would also like to review additional candidates who may meet the job requirements, with a stronger focus on MS-SQL / T-SQL database experience.

Please note that our overall impression of the submitted candidates is that they currently lean more toward front-end development rather than what we would consider true full-stack development.

We would be more interested in candidates with stronger back-end development experience, particularly those with expertise in:

- MS-SQL / T-SQL development and database design
- Writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
- Data integrity, performance tuning, and query optimization
- API development and system integration
- Designing scalable and maintainable application architectures

As our application development priorities are more focused on data integrity, business logic, and back-end processing than presentation aesthetics, candidates with a stronger back-end orientation will be preferred.
