Job Description
3B Advanced Composites Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced Officer / Sr. Officer - Safety to strengthen our EHS culture and ensure statutory compliance across our manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate should have experience in a continuous process industry with strong knowledge of Industrial Safety, Fire Safety, statutory compliance, ISO Management Systems, and contractor safety management.
Note:- CANDIDATES RECOGNIZED BY THE GOA INSPECTORATE OF FACTORIES & BOILERS AS A SAFETY OFFICER WILL BE PREFERRED.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and company EHS policies.
- Implement Work Permit System and safe work practices.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification.
- Organize emergency response drills, fire drills and safety awareness programs.
- Plan and execute inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems.
- Conduct internal safety inspections and audits.
- Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with external agencies for statutory inspections and approvals.
- Maintain safety documentation and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and conduct contractor safety meetings.
- Support ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and EnMS management systems.
- Drive 5S implementation across the organization.
- Support CAPEX/OPEX planning related to Safety department.
Operations Management
- Develop risk management plans for new project sites
- Ensure proper implementation of work permit systems
- Ensure compliance of fire systems with applicable regulations and obtain necessary approvals
- Plan and execute inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire systems
- Establish fire prevention, emergency response, and evacuation procedures
- Ensure effective execution of fire and life safety training and drills
- Provide performance feedback on outsourced agencies and recommend improvements
- Conduct periodic review meetings with agency representatives to assess performance and drive improvements
Daily Briefing and Reporting
- Ensure timely preparation of reports (incident, observation, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual reports)
- Review daily reports from outsourced agencies and escalate concerns to Sr. Manager Safety, if required
- Conduct surprise inspections and audits
- Maintain proper documentation of all operational records and reports
Trainings / Drills
- Prepare training schedules in coordination with HR and ensure effective delivery
- Conduct fire and safety drills (evacuation, emergency response, etc.)
- Organize awareness programs for employees and outsourced staff on safety practices
Inspection and Audit
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation readiness and coordination
- Assist in reviewing audit findings, identifying non-compliance, and implementing corrective actions
Financial Responsibilities
- Assist in budget preparation (OPEX and CAPEX)
- Monitor departmental expenses against budget
- Verify vendor invoices and ensure timely processing
- Maintain proper documentation of financial records in line with company policies
Other General Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections to ensure activities are performed with proper risk assessment
- Ensure adherence to company rules, regulations, and policies
- Act as the first responder in emergency situations and take appropriate action
5S
- Lead and drive 5S initiatives
- Coordinate and facilitate 5S and management audits
EHS/OHS Responsibilities (Aligned with BSC 5-Star OHS Element)
- Develop project-specific EHS plans, SOPs, and guidelines aligned with work method statements
- Review and enhance method statements for EHS compliance before execution
- Monitor EHS performance in coordination with the project team and provide status updates
Additional Responsibilities
- Support development and delivery of EHS training for employees and contractors
- Manage EHS monitoring programs (noise, vibration, dust, etc.)
- Act as secretary for Contractor EHS Committee meetings
- Identify workplace hazards and implement control measures
- Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance
- Implement and maintain comprehensive environmental, safety, and health programs
- Support incident reporting, investigation, and case management
- Maintain records of safety inspections, reports, and communications
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and engineering standards
- Report EHS performance to management and stakeholders
- Organize safety meetings and circulate minutes
- Ensure timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions
- Review and approve contractor safety plans
- Coordinate statutory testing through external agencies (e.g., GSPCB)
- Arrange participation of fire authorities in drills
- Maintain records of training sessions, fire drills, and improvement actions
Desired Candidate Profile
- 5-8 years of experience in Industrial Safety/EHS.
- Experience in Manufacturing / Continuous Process Industry preferred.
- Robust knowledge of Factories Act, Fire Safety, Industrial Safety and Environmental regulations.
- Experience in conducting safety training, mock drills and emergency preparedness.
- Good knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and EHS Management Systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Able to coordinate with contractors, government authorities and cross-functional teams.
