Assistant Manager – Quality Control (Drymix Products)

Manager – Quality Control / Head – QA & QC

Job Purpose

To ensure consistent quality of drymix construction chemical products (Tile Adhesives, Wall Putty, Plasters, Grouts, Repair Mortars, Waterproofing mortars, etc.) by controlling raw materials, in-process checks, and finished goods, in line with IS / ASTM standards and internal quality norms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Raw Material Quality Control

- Inspect and test incoming raw materials such as cement, sand, fillers, polymers, additives
- Ensure compliance with approved specifications and supplier COAs
- Coordinate with purchase & stores for material acceptance or rejection

2. In-Process Quality Control

- Monitor batch-wise production and ensure adherence to formulation and SOPs
- Conduct in-process tests for flowability, bulk density, moisture, setting time, consistency
- Identify deviations and initiate corrective & preventive actions (CAPA)

3. Finished Goods Testing

- Perform physical and performance tests for drymix products including:

- Adhesion strength
- Compressive & flexural strength
- Water retention
- Open time & slip
- Pot life & setting time

Ensure product compliance with IS codes / ASTM / EN standards

Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain test reports, batch records, inspection logs, calibration records
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / safety & statutory norms
- Support internal and external quality audits

5. Process Improvement & Coordination

- Work closely with Production, R&D;, and Technical teams to improve product consistency
- Assist in trial batches, new product development, and formulation validation
- Investigate customer complaints related to quality and support root cause analysis

6. Team Supervision

- Guide and monitor QC chemists and lab technicians
- Ensure lab discipline, safety practices, and equipment maintenance

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of drymix formulations & testing methods
- Hands-on experience with construction chemical lab equipment
- Understanding of IS / ASTM / EN standards
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Positive documentation and coordination skills

Qualification

- B.Sc / M.Sc (Chemistry) OR Diploma / B.Tech in Chemical / Civil Engineering

Experience

- 5–8 years of QC experience in drymix, construction chemicals, cement, or building materials industry
