Job Purpose
To ensure that best practices are adopted, and guidelines complied with and that all New Products and outsourcing activities comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. To assist in Reviewing and interpreting new laws and regulations and advising Units regarding legal and regulatory requirements impacting Bank (primarily pertaining to Global Financial Market and allied Functions).

Be trusted Advisor for Business and other stakeholders
Managing regulatory requirements for products/process/policy
Managing efficient relationship with Regulator/s and Industry bodies
Risk based decision and assessment of various initiatives/Products
Identifying, escalation and mitigation of regulatory/Compliance risk
Continuous upskilling and learning for managing ever changing complex Regulatory/Compliance requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Support GFM and allied functions as Compliance Advisor for all Regulatory requirements
Support product approval and governance within regulatory framework
Participate and Present compliance inputs in forums as deputed by Compliance Head
Advise and support Compliance Head in all compliance aspects for products/business/function supported by the employee
Managing stakeholder’s expectation within the governance/compliance framework
Support other team members in discharging compliance agenda
Assist in the conduct of RBI Audit and resolution of regulatory issues
Ensure best practices are adopted and guidelines complied with and that all activities comply with applicable, rules and regulations
Liaise with the Regulators and establish a cordial rapport.
Correspond with the regulators, if appropriate
Share know-how and experience with other the legal-compliance team and elsewhere within the DBS compliance and legal function, including participation in any global practice groups relevant to role and expertise.
Supporting any assessment/scrutiny required for driving compliance culture/objective.
Requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify compliance risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
Excellent communication and negotiation skills at all levels, especially drafting & writing skills
Ability to work collaboratively with business units, legal teams, and other support functions
Strong formal presentation skills to gain acceptance to solutions, both internally and externally
Learning Attitude and attention to detail
Adaptability and a proactive approach to evolving regulatory landscapes
Should be able to identify and forecast legal & compliance risks / rewards, in line with proposed business growth & find solutions.
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of financial markets and products (FX, interest rates, equities, commodities, fixed income, derivatives).
In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance and market conduct.
Familiarity with risk management principles, including operational risk and credit risk.
Experience with New Product Approval (NPA) processes.
Understanding of market conduct guidelines (e.g., FEDAI Code Of Conduct).
In-depth knowledge of relevant RBI Guidelines and Master Directions including, but not limited to: Master Direction on Risk Management and Inter-Bank Dealings, RBI Master Directions OTC and Rupee Interest Rate Derivatives, Foreign Exchange Management (Foreign Exchange Derivative Contracts) Regulations, 2000, Master Direction - Classification, Valuation and Operation of Investment Portfolio of Commercial Banks, Guidelines on Managing Risk and Code of Conduct in Outsourcing of Financial Services by Banks, Master Circulars related to Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), including those concerning export and import of goods and services, external commercial borrowings, foreign investment in India, and money changing activities.
Knowledge of FEDAI Circulars and Rules
Knowledge of rules / regulations issued by SEBI, NSE, BSE, NSDL, CDSL, etc. would be an added advantage
Sound knowledge of the overall banking environment
Must have worked on overall regulatory compliance in Bank for 7-10 years (incl. regulatory advisory or regulatory compliance for Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking or Treasury & Markets business.
Work Relationship
Close working relationship with all business heads, product owners & internal support functions & ensure compliance for all products & services offered by DBS India (primarily pertaining to Global Financial Markets)
External interaction with regulators / governing bodies such as the RBI, SEBI, FEDAI, FIMDA, NSE, BSE, NSDL, CDSL, etc.
Establish a working relationship with Legal & Compliance team in Singapore.
Positive peer network in the industry.
