The Sewing Operator is responsible for operating industrial sewing machines to assemble, alter, and finish garments or textile products according to production specifications and quality standards. The role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to follow patterns and instructions accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate sewing machines (e.g., single needle, overlock, coverstitch) safely and efficiently
- Stitch, assemble, and finish garments or textile products according to designs and specifications
- Read and follow work orders, patterns, and sewing instructions
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met
- Perform basic machine maintenance, such as cleaning and threading
- Report defects, machine issues, or material problems to supervisors
- Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality
- Follow workplace safety and hygiene regulations
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of sewing techniques and machine operation
- Ability to work with different fabrics and materials
- Positive hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Physical ability to sit for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a sewing operator or tailor
