Job Description:
A Purchase Executive in the packaging industry manages the procurement of packaging materials, equipment, and services while optimizing costs and ensuring quality and compliance.
Job Description (JD):
- Supplier Management and Negotiation: Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential suppliers of raw materials (e.g., paper, plastic, ink) and finished packaging. Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and service level agreements (SLAs) to secure the best value and ensure a reliable supply chain.
- Procurement and Purchase Order Management: Manage the end-to-end purchasing cycle, including creating purchase orders (POs), tracking order status, expediting urgent requirements, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to avoid production delays.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to establish quality standards and specifications for all packaging materials.
Conduct quality checks on incoming goods and ensure all suppliers comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., food safety, sustainability).
- Inventory Control and Cost Optimization: Coordinate with planning and warehouse teams to forecast demand, optimize inventory levels, and implement just-in-time (JIT) strategies where appropriate to minimize carrying costs and stockouts. Analyze spend patterns to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Development: Work closely with the Production, Packaging Development, and Finance departments to understand material requirements and support recent product development (NPD) projects.
