Job Description: A Shift Manager/Incharge for a Steel Melting Shop (SMS) is responsible for leading production, safety, and operational efficiency during assigned shifts in steel manufacturing. They manage melting, refining, and continuous casting processes (EAF/CCM), ensuring targets are met while maintaining strict quality control and safety standards (HSE). Key Responsibilities and Duties:

- Production Oversight: Monitor daily production plans, including Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF), Induction Furnaces (IF), and Continuous Casting Machines (CCM) to meet targets.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and guide shift operators and staff to achieve maximum operational efficiency.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Quality Control: Monitor material flow and process parameters to ensure products meet quality standards, implementing corrective actions for deviations.
- Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve operational issues,



equipment breakdowns (cranes, furnaces), and production bottlenecks.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate shift logs, production reports, maintenance details, and safety records.

Requirements:

- Experience: Generally 10-15 years of experience in a steel plant, specifically in the SMS area.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of melting, refining, and casting processes.
- Skills: Solid leadership, communication, troubleshooting, and team management skills.
- Qualifications: Typically requires a degree or diploma in Engineering (Metallurgy or Mechanical preferred).

- Achieving production targets (tonnage).
- Ensuring zero accidents/incidents.
- Minimizing equipment downtime.
- Maintaining product quality standards.
