Job Description:

A Store Assistant for a steel fabricator manages inventory, handles raw materials (steel plates, sections), and supports shop floor production. Key responsibilities include receiving materials, managing tool inventory, assisting in material preparation (cutting, moving), maintaining warehouse safety, and keeping the work area clean. Key Responsibilities & Duties

- Material Handling: Loading/unloading steel materials using forklifts or overhead cranes.
- Inventory Control: Organizing raw materials (steel tubes, sheets) and consumables (welding rods, grinding discs).
- Tool Management: Issuing and receiving tools to/from fabricators and performing tool maintenance.
- Production Support: Assisting with material cutting, grinding, cleaning, and preparing parts for fitters.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Ensuring the storeroom and shop floor are clean, tidy, and comply with safety regulations.
- Documentation:



Recording material receipts and dispatches, maintaining inventory logs.

Requirements & Qualifications

- Physical fitness, with the ability to lift heavy items (often 50 lbs/23 kg or more).
- Experience in a fabrication shop or construction setting preferred.
- Knowledge of steel types and fabrication tools.
- Ability to read basic blueprints or work orders.
- Valid forklift license or crane operator experience is highly desirable.

Physical and Environmental Demands

- Working in a manufacturing setting, often involving noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Extended standing and moving, working closely with other team members.
